NYBUCK
I am just completing all the junk for my pistol permit so I am doing some shopping. For my first one, do you think I should start out with a 22 or go right fot the bigboy that I would like to use hunting. If I go with the 22 I can shoot indoor at our club during the winter months which is a lot of fun. Here is the gun I looked at. It is a Beretta U22NEOS. It is slick and feels great in my hand. The cost of that one is $349. I also looked at a used smith & wesson 22 that is in great shape and they want $199. In NY we have to have a pistol on layaway in order to get our permit. hangunnr
Re: New Pistol I'd stay as far away from the Smith as you can. The one I have isn't a very well made pistol. I haven't shot the Beretta Neos series guns so I can't comment on how well they function. Be sure to let us know how you like it after shooting it. hangunnr
johnf
Re: New Pistol I've got a neos 6", and have put about 2K bullets through it. It has been very accurate and has jammed only once, that was after putting about 600 bullets throgh it without cleaning it. After the jam, I shot about 75 more shots without it jamming again. I cleaned it and haven't had it jam since. BTW-What's a pistol pemit?
Reloader
Re: New Pistol Personaly I love the Ruger MKI, II, or III for a 22LR pistol. they are supremely acurate (I have fired a 2 inch *10 shot* group off a standing rest at 50 yards with my dad's MK I and standard grade remington bulk ammo) and very reliable(only failures I have had were due to faulty ammo, what I get for buying cheap stuff). Ruger MK III (stainless fluted, you can also get blued)
johnf
Re: New Pistol One complaint for the neos. The "Target sight" aren't really good for target shooting. They are very wide in the front and rear for my taste. I've got a cheap red dot on mine and can shoot anything with it. I was picking ballons off a fences with ease at 100 yards at my my folks over spring break. My dad has a really old ruger mark I and I love the open sights on it. They are much better suited for target shooting.
NYBUCK
Re: New Pistol Well I went to Gander Mt on Saturday and they had the same pistol (neos) for $100 cheaper. Today I went to another guy locally that sells guns and he is going to get me a price. I put one on lay-a-way at Gander Mt. but if this guy comes back to me cheaper I will buy it from him. I can't wait to get it now.

hangunnr
Re: New Pistol [ QUOTE ] ... might have to have both [/ QUOTE ] Go ahead and get one......can't have too many .22s... I've owned far more different .22s than any other caliber. hangunnr

WNY_Whitetailer
Re: New Pistol NYBUCK...Did you pick up that Beretta yet? If so, how did it shoot for you? I opted for the Browning Buckmark for my first 22lr semi-auto but that NEOS looks interesting...I like the looks of the Ruger MK III Hunter too... NYBUCK
Re: New Pistol Yes I did. I really like it but I am going to put a dot scope very shortly. It is one sweet shooting gun.

johnf
Re: New Pistol Check this out. I'd get one of these for my neos if I didn't already have a red dot on it.
