OJR
Re: BARRY BONDS He should be banned from baseball the same as Pete Rose. What Rose did, is minor compared to what Bonds has lied about!!
Master_Chief
Re: BARRY BONDS I agree with OJR. He, along with Sosa, McGwire, Palmerio and others should be banned for using drugs to enhance their game.
AdvantageTimberLou
Re: BARRY BONDS I seen that home run last night, he absolutely crushed that ball. The minute it left the bat you knew it was gone! You know he's not on the juice now and he can still crush the ball, so maybe alot of homers were "tainted" but last nights was unbelieveable!!! And I am not a "Bonds fan"
Tominator
Re: BARRY BONDS I saw it right before I went to sleep. That thing was a bomb. Looked like middle deck to me. I didn't see the repeat, but it was a no-doubter. I won't say he cheated on a lot of them, but he certainly didn't play on the same playing field as Ruth or Aaron, that's for sure. Wonder what those guys could have done had they had the benefits of "enhancements."
BowtechTurkeyHunter
Re: BARRY BONDS I think it is a joke as much press coverage as he got for "almost" getting the record I mean common ... as much of a baby as he is he will probably go on the injured reserve or something .. I agree with Tominators view that he didnt do it the same way ... and he will always be a baby in my book ... I think when they put him in the hall of fame they should make a tear coming down his cheak ... Steve

buckbuster11
Re: BARRY BONDS That was crushed. I must admit I am pretty impressed by the way he is hitting the ball with only one knee, and I'm assuming he isnt on steroids anymore. He is still crushing it. muggs
Re: BARRY BONDS This whole situation is very, very strange. We're really witnessing a major event in the history of the sport. We'll be talking about this for a long, long time. Not only is a legend being passed by a guy who cheated, but the crowd treatment...all the signs, its really amazing. I'm not enjoying watching Ruth get passed by this guy, but I'm definately excited to be seeing this first-hand.
SuperMn106
Re: BARRY BONDS The only reason that Barry is getting a lot of attention now is becasuse Babe Ruth is a big name in baseball. I think everyone recognizes The Babe before Hank Aaron, not taking anything away from Hank Aaron. I think in order to be banned from the game you have to do something illegal. What Mark McGwire did was not illegal during his time. What has Barry Bonds done? I am not sure, i havent heard him admit to anything. We can speculate with all the things goin on around him, but in the United States it is innocent until PROVEN guilty. Do i like Barry? not really, i think his attitude towards the fans and the way he acts is pitiful, but i do respect him. He has tremoundous talent. I bet Selig prays every single day Bonds retires before he gets close to that record.
Michiganbowhunter_SQ2
Re: BARRY BONDS I hope he breaks it and i hope he breaks hank aarons record too (doubt he will but it would be cool to see)...his ego or his actions don't bother me...i don't bother me, i don't watch baseball to see how someone is treating fans...i could care less about the whole "steroid" thing...Bonds, Mcguire, Sosa...who cares...they made the game more exciting...who wants to pay $30 for a ticket to a game were everone flys out, hits grounders and singles? i say put at least one person on each team on steroids... DU_man_84
Re: BARRY BONDS yeah he definately needs to be banned from baseball i think, not a baseball fan, but taking steroids to improve your baseball enhancement is definately not right

_MD_
Re: BARRY BONDS When you see his name in the record books it should say "Barry Bonds*" Then at the bottom of the page it should say " * = Years & Years of performance enhancing drugs. He could have never done it without them."
unioncountyslayer
Re: BARRY BONDS The way I see it, is that if he took steroids before they were illegal and banned in MLB, so be it. I don't agree with steroid use, but Major League Baseball should have cracked down on it and banned it long before they did. As far as we know, he's innocent until proven guilty and has not tested positive since the ban. And while I think the Babe was a great ball player and will always be one of the best, lets face it, when he was playing, the pitching was mediocre at best, with starters pitching way too many games and their arms like jello towards the end of each season. Just my $.02, take it as you may.

Hoyt03
Re: BARRY BONDS I said it once and I'll say it again. If Bonds and the other players mentioned above should be banned from baseball etc, then the other 75 - 80% of the guys using this stuff should be as well. Everyone is just on him because he's breaking records because he is very talented. How about the guys who have a few hundred homers that were using roids, who ther wise wouldnt even have 50. I dont hear you talking baout banning them from baseball. Fact is a large percentage of people would be banned if everyone that used it was caught. [/ QUOTE ] I agree with everything you said, plus whatever he took (if anything, we dont know yet) would not help him hit the ball. Hit it further? maybe. but you still have to have excellent hand to eye cordination to be able to hit a baseball. His swing alone generates a lot of power. okbowman
Re: BARRY BONDS He probably only took roids for a few yrs. If you only give him 35 homeruns in the years he used steroids he would still be in the hunt for this record. I think they should throw out his 73 in one season record and McGwires too. But all his homeruns were not the result of steroids! I don't like him, I think without steroids he would now be inching up on Willie Mays 660, but not Ruth! Its just a shame and I don't know what MLB is able to do about it!
