Guest Hi-Tech RedNeck
I am having a problme with my REM 1187 where it will not feed shells from the magazine tube. It's almost like the shell is getting stuck on some in the tube. When I monkey with it a little and rework the action it will work but not on its own. I completely strtipped the gun down a throroughly cleaned it but I am still having problmes. Any ideas?

archerjg
Re: 11-87 Problems Is it not feeding automatically, but feeding when you manually work the bolt? Have you checked the gas seal to make sure that it is not cut or damaged? I hav ethe 11-87 SuperMag and so far it has been extremely reliable. Guest LungBuster1212
Re: 11-87 Problems Hey there Hi tech If the O-Rings are good, then try Loosening the end cap on the tube just 2 clicks and then try that. Let me know if that works
AJ
Re: 11-87 Problems I too would check the O-rings and replace them if necessary. Check the gas ports to be sure they are not carboned up. The end cap should be tight, not loose by any number of clicks.
Guest Hi-Tech RedNeck
Re: 11-87 Problems I have checked the O-ring and the and the gas port but that is not the problem. The shell is not jamming in the cycle of the action which is the of then case for the above mentioned issues. The shell is not being pushed from the tube to the action when cycling the actions either via a shot or manually. I will try loosening the end cap this evening. Thanks for the feed back guys and any thing else to check would be appreciated. RT

too_pointer
Re: 11-87 Problems I'm sorry about no help. I have had the 1100 and the 11-87, they both performed great. I haven't had any misfires or problems. too_
Guest Hi-Tech RedNeck
Re: 11-87 Problems The shells I have been running into problems with are the 3 factory 3" turkey loads that I put in the gun to hunt. When not in the gun they are placed in a stock mounted shell carier just so I know where everything. I have been using the same 3 shells and running into the same problem. Well after tearing the gun down 3 time I came to a very interesting conclusions as to what the actual problem was. It is the shells..... I do not know if it was a produciton problem with the shells or some how in all my travels I ended up deforming one of them. I tried different shells and I did not run into the issue. The good news is I now have one spanking clean 11-87 and I am very familiar with assembling and disambling of the gun. So familair in fact, I tore apart my 1100 also and made that spanking clean as well in about 10 minutes. One suggestion to any REM Auto guys out there.....You do not want to oil the action of these guns. I typically would clean the barrel wipe down exposed the rest of the gun and give a squirt of rem oil or into the action/triger assembly area, just to make sure things stayed lubed. Well you can not believe the amount of crud that that oil will accumualate over a short amount of time. Like the manufacture says "do not over lubricate" these things. Apparently they do know what htey are talking about. Thanks for the suggestions. HTR
too_pointer
Re: 11-87 Problems On my Rem 11-87 I use mostly Rem. Dri Lube. I used the same on my 1100's since it came out. It works great and doesn't collect alot of gunk either. Best of luck Hi-Tech. too_
