Turkeygirl
And I didn't hear a sound, any gobble sounds that is. I heard a ton of song birds and preoccupied myself watching birds through the binoculars while occassionally giving some clucks and yelps but nothing! Headed home and saw a hen back out in the field by the gravel pit. I'm not sure if there is just one turkey or several but from the looks of it, they are really tearing it up dusting by that field! There is a sandy spot on the edge of the woods and everytime I check there, it is freshly scratched up and such from turkeys dusting, there must be like 5 different dust bowls and tons of tracks in there, it's crazy! Do you think just one turkey is doing this or more? One piece of good news is I found one of my strikers I lost 1-2 years ago, lol. One of my Knight & Hale strikers I use on my Ol' Yeller, saw the sunlight reflect of the handle. I guess it makes up for my all wood striker I lost last Tuesday chasing that gobbler who is no where to be seen or heard. Seems every year I lose something. I think tomorrow morning I'm going to head up to the state land and give that a try for a little while. at least, there doesn't seem to be anyone hunting the "home ground" any more, but I wonder if that gobbler is dead or not.... elnor
Re: I returned to the woods this morning... If I were you I'd consider staking out those dusting holes, sort of deer-hunting-style, and see who shows up to use them.
