OJR
Re: Need Sugestions ?? Just tell it the way it is! She will either understand or leave when you start talking about it! Of course, she can't go too far if you are out in the Gulf! Good luck!!

BowJoe
Re: Need Sugestions ?? Show her that it doesn't matter what the person's hobbies are as long as the person is nice and polite. Maybe you will influence her ideas about hunters and fishermen.
Tominator
Re: Need Sugestions ?? She needs to live in the states and witness all the animals that get whacked on the roads, once she sees that, ask her to imagine what it would be like if hunters didn't thin the numbers. That's just one argument.
Guest Finn
Re: Need Sugestions ?? Don't try get her to change her mind with 1 or 2 facts. She's probably too emotional about animals to think about facts. If she's a nice person, be nice back. Always be polite when it comes up. Show her that all hunters are not what the stereotypical slobs the media tries to make us. Tell her why you enjoy the outdoors without talking about killing, blood and gutting deer. I've known many buddies who lose a chance to speak with those who disagree with hunting because they try gross them out with obnoxious statements. Long term, she may still be a vegan, but she'll know hunters are good people who care about the outdoors. Good luck.

wtnhunt
Re: Need Sugestions ?? [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] a [/ QUOTE ] Just curious, why do you keep doing this? [/ QUOTE ] Kind of wondered the same thing. Would just explain to her about your feelings about animals and the outdoors. She can respect your opinions or not respect them, but that way at least you are being honest.

Newarcher
Re: Need Sugestions ?? Keep your mouth shut and don't even talk about the subject with her. You WILL NOT WIN..... I have learned that you simply cannot talk about religion, politics, or even hunting with people who hold views counter to yours. You will rarely, if ever, change someone's mind and will most likely alienate them. Case in point....went on a business trip with a co-worker (Teri) this past week. We got to talking about different people in the area and I found out that she is friends with one of our Canadian co-workers (Julie). She just blurted out that "julie (the Canadian) doesn't like you". I was taken aback because generally I am very well liked and I have MAYBE....MAYBE had two very short conversations with this woman in three years of working at this company. Both conversations were in the break room while getting coffee and were maybe 2 minutes long each. One was about politics of some sort and the other was about guns. I, of course, ask why. So Teri says "I dunno (of course she knows) but I think It has something to do with your political views and Julie has a hard time separating someone from their views)". No big loss...after all, she is Canadian. But the lesson here is keep it to yourself. We hunters sometimes suffer from the "gotta make everyone okay with what I do" syndrome. You can't. stevebeilgard
Re: Need Sugestions ?? i'll argue with her. i'll tell her that god wants you to eat meat, and i'll proove it. and, if you don't believe in god, then insert whatever word you want when i say god. first, imagine all the animals in this world that eat meat. your dog or cat, a bear in alaska, or a lion in africa. any animal, any where, that eats meat. now, think of all the animals in the world that don't eat meat. a cow or horse, a zebra or elephant, a tur in russia. any animal, any where, that does not eat meat. god mad two distinct differences in the animals that he wants to eat meat from those that he wants to eat grass (graze) 1) eyes on the front of the head. meat eaters have eyes on the front of their heads, to spot their quarry. grazing animals have eyes on the sides of their heads, to spot the stalkers. 2) your eye teeth, also called grabber or sabre teeth. no grazing animal has these, as they don't need to grab anything but grasses. finish up by telling this girl that she can exist on vetables alone, but it will cost her her life. fact is, vegetarians are doomed to die of sclorsis of the liver. the liver needs a diet of meat to survive. then, tell her to check with her doctor, and you'll buy her a steak. no, wait a minute. you said she was from brittian. she probably doesn't have the teeth to chew a steak... lol

BowJoe
Re: Need Sugestions ?? I think if you go into it arguing about your views then you've made an enemy. Just accept your differences and talk about it if she wants to. If she makes false statements then simply tell her the truth and leave it at that. You can still be friends and make it a non issue. I have several friends that are vegetarians but we don't talk about it unless it just comes up.
