Strut_Buster
Alright. I am very fond of this gun. 7.62x39 cartrige. Cheap ammo, cheap gun. We have a Chineese and a synthetic stock and it shoots great. Never Clean it, shoots no matter the tempature. I have been hearing Arguments between the Yugo and Chinese version. Could someone help me sum this up and give me some advice on the best one.
JimT
Re: Best SKS? Mine was a chinese... Awsome gun for sure. Mine was not great accuracy wise, but was very dependable. Never jammed once. Only paid $115.00 for it new also. Cheap thrills for sure. I loved that thing, and should have kept it for sure.
robk
Re: Best SKS? the best of the sks's is the russian model of the sks and the chinese was the 2nd in line. they yugo is okay but the best you will find is a russian and you will pay for one. alot more than a chinese or yugo. the russian is extremely tighter than the others and it's tolerances are much better and they are an extremely accurate gun open sights and all. if your shooting a chinese i would suggest you go with the norinco scope set up and you will have to get a cap that has the set up for rings and bases. good luck rob k

wtnhunt
Re: Best SKS? Yep, the Russian model is the best. Have a norinco Chinese made sks myself and have been pretty happy with it. Very accurate, cheap to shoot and been really dependable.

Have a norinco Chinese made sks myself and have been pretty happy with it. Very accurate, cheap to shoot and been really dependable. [/ QUOTE ] My SKS is also a Norinco "Chinese" model, which I sporterized with a normal sporting style hardwood laminated stock. I also replaced the 10 shot mag. with a non-detachable 5-shot mag, got rid of the cleaning rod and barrel lugs, and mounted it with a 4-power "short" Simmons brand scope. It shoot more accurately without all the "Junk" attachments.
wtnhunt
Re: Best SKS? Yep, the factory bayonet and cleaning rod were clanky awkward pieces of uselessness to me. Mine is still set up the way it came out of the box aside from the cleaning rod and the bayonet. Shoots great and is pretty accurate. Thought about putting a scope on it, but never have gotten around to it.
Strut_Buster
Re: Best SKS? o yes. For a youth to shoot its a great gun, little recoil and a its thrill. I wouldn't recomentd it for a youths first deer rifle but for a fun carry arround gun its awesome!
