elkoholic
Re: RT Forum Members Violating Hunting Regulations If no one said anything to someone who was doing something wrong (maybe unknowingly) how would the wrongdoer ever learn? If I was doing something wrong I would hope that someone would point it out to me. If on the other hand there is a plausible explanation to be offered for the act committed than that should be brought forward. This should be an open forum, where both good and bad are brought into the open. Maybe at times some of us are a little too judgemental, a little too defensive or just plain tired of the strife that takes place in our lifes. Accept the fact that we all are not on the same page when it comes to laws, ethics or the way we live our lifes. We as hunters need to police our own ranks and sometimes that means stepping up and saying "Hey, you messed up, and if you did not, than an explanation is in order." That also means that we, lacking an explanation, need to fess up and say "Hey, you are right, I messed up".
dg
Re: RT Forum Members Violating Hunting Regulations Just for the record, this post was about someone on this forum boasting about killing more deer than allowed in a bag limit. I sent them a PM yesterday and they have not replied. I merely asked the question if it was legal. If it is, then I will stand corrected. If not, becareful what you post! This is the second time I've read this (from two different members) about exceeding bag limits. It was not a "stir the pot" post. It's better we learn HERE now vs the game warden citing us after we did something illegal although we thought it to be lawful. I've been there before too. To overlook those things isn't right. BowtechTurkeyHunter
Re: RT Forum Members Violating Hunting Regulations thanks hoosierhunter buyt you can read my reply and clarification too the thread in the crazy doe stalked me post .... dg Im not sure who the person is who took more deer then they had tags is but if they are that is poaching plain and simple and paoching in any state is against the law ... for the record poaching by definition of a hunter is harvesting an animal without a proper tag or authorization ... correct and we all agree poaching is a crime right ... so if they are breaking the law by harvesting too many deer confront them in a PMand ask them WTH or you could do what other have done too me and BLAST them before you know all the facts .... whitetailkiller
Re: RT Forum Members Violating Hunting Regulations that's a tough one!!!!!!! bad hunters give us good ones a bad rap!!!!!!!! i would say something to that person through pms......if he/she did it again or said they did it again, i would make a complaint and have that person watched(dnr/nrp) the bottom line though is legal or illegal !!!!!!!!!!!!! oh i must confess too.... i was driving up the dirt road to my hunting land and a large buck walked beside my car for a good 15 -20 yards...i wanted to smack into him with my car but decided not to!!!!! noboby is perfect, most have an impure thought every now and then ,,, responsible ethical hunters refrain from action!!!!!! dg
Re: RT Forum Members Violating Hunting Regulations I got a read receipt for the PM, but no reply. Hmmm, imagine that. Then someone else chimed in about the same thing. Then the post somehow disappeared! So, I guess they disappear!

Rhino
Re: RT Forum Members Violating Hunting Regulations I guess I missed the post in question but asking them if it was legal would be the thing to do. Here's an example of a quirk in our state's deer game bag limit. Currently our bag limit is 3 bucks (4point or better) and 3 does but 2 additional does can be taken with a bow. It used to be 3 bucks and 5 does with 2 additional does by bow. Before that it was 5 bucks and 3 does. And different prior to that. The quirk in the bag limits is this and it's been that way for DMAP for a long time: If you participate in DMAP you don't have a limit on does. You set a goal for the number of does you should take off your property or hunting club and you can take as many as you want to reach that goal. Legally one hunter could take all of them. Our club's goal is 40. Not me though....I sure don't want to clean that many so 2 or 3 does along with a good buck or 2 is about all I want to deal with now. fisherguy
Re: RT Forum Members Violating Hunting Regulations the place in question had a one deer per day limit, two total, only one buck. The poster was bragging about shooting two bucks the same morning.
Rhino
Re: RT Forum Members Violating Hunting Regulations I understand now fisherguy. Thanks for the clarification. I don't know of any place where that is legal.
popgun
Re: RT Forum Members Violating Hunting Regulations It is legal in AR. You can shoot your entire yearly bag limit within fifteen minutes of the first day here if you want to finish your season that early. I personally have bagged a buck and doe within twenty minutes of the same day. He may have had a depredation permit that gave him the right in his state to take another deer. Without all the facts I will not condemn that hunter. .....popgun
