NASCAR and the Language "barrier"

OK folks here is a question. Now that the season is over and Busch has well "won" the cup. What is the deal with all the fuss over driver language? Jr. loses 25 points for cussing on the air but the networks take great pleasure in "listening in" on team radio communications. Now I don't know about ya'll but I have heard a whole lot worse stuff knowingly broadcast by FOX and NBC from these radios. True it isn't a TV interview in victory lane but still. If NASCAR wants a squeakey clean image then keep Benny Parsons' and Alan Bestwick's ears out of the cars!

NASCAR isn't NASCAR anymore. It used to, and still should be, tobacco chewin, beer drink, redneck cussin, runnin in circles, havin a big time. You hear a lot worse on soap operas. Does NASCAR really think that 100% of their viewers are 10 year old perfect Christians? Should they be down right disturbed by Junior saying the s bomb? I think it still is bullsh...woops! Chrud...please report to the big white truck. grin.gif

Re: NASCAR and the Language \"barrier\"

Here's my dilemma. I don't agree with anything worse than what is currently allowed on daytime TV, I mean, I have definitely said a whole heck of a lot worse things then the s word, so it doesn't really bother me, but, there are people to please and the s word or gd or f have no place on network daytime TV, that said, I have a big problem with the networks tapping into the driver communications and then a cuss word pops out and NASCAR fines the drivers, remember a few years back when they did a live feed on Todd Parrot yelling at his crew during a pit stop and the g.d. word was said, well, NASCAR fined him, which, the way I see it, NBC or whoever had no business airing it live, especially in that instance when anything can happen, these drivers and crew chiefs are NOT choir boys in any respect, I take my scanner to every race, the worst I have heard Gordon say was the s word at Darlington a couple weeks ago, Mikey Waltrip and Kyle Petty I have both heard say the F word, Kyle had mother attached to it. These guys aren't perfect, if NASCAR doesn't want bad words getting out, then prohibit the networks from airing radio traffic, which, I am sure they review it before they air it now, it's just the principle, how are you gonna fine someone for what he says over the radio, to his crew chief and the network airs it. Just makes no sense.

Re: NASCAR and the Language \"barrier\"

I agree, and this is why I watched all of 0 races this year. NASCAR has really ticked me off with how it does things nowadays. Thats why I stick to F1 and WRC. Better racing, and they don't try to hold the teams back for the sake of "money saving" like NASCAR does. Racing is an expensive game that doesn't turn a profit, and quite honestly, if you can't afford to play, you shouldn't be trying to make the team.

Re: NASCAR and the Language \"barrier\"

Rules are rules and thats all there is to that. Doesn't matter what I want to hear or don't care to hear. Whether you agree or disagree with the rules, the drivers/crew cheif/crew/owner...whoever, all know the rules!

What I don't like is the fact that no one esle on Jr.s team said the s bomb...why did they get the penality? Should just fined the heck out of the person saying it. If I'm in a car that my buddy is driving and he gets stopped for speeding, we both don't get fines. smirk.gif
