VermontHunter
Re: box blind on wheels I'm going to be doing the same thing with a couple of old hay wagons that the wife's uncle farm has, and they have no use for.... I like this concept because I can pull these babies in for repairs and move to new locations anytime the heart desires.... Good Luck, with your project.... wtnhunt
Re: box blind on wheels Take some pics and post em in here. Sounds like a pretty cool idea. I let the kids paint most of our box blind. I used an oil based barn paint for my base color, rolled on, and came back and swirled paint(greens, brown, and tans) in the pan and let them roll that on. Turned out pretty decent. wtnhunt
Re: box blind on wheels [ QUOTE ] right now i got tin and fiberglass cap cutouts for the roof or should i use wood and shingles. what is better? [/ QUOTE ] I used a green colored ondura roffing from lowes for our roof on our box blind. The stuff is pretty sturdy, and my roof is kind of flat. Dont have to worry about leaks. LETMGROW
Re: box blind on wheels Be sure to integrate some type of outrigger or tie down system. The flexability of the tires and frame could allow the blind to rock in the wind. This could lead to the whole thing tipping over. My stationery 6x6 blind blew over this spring in a wind storm just because I didn't bother to finish tieing it down.
deerkillr777
Re: box blind on wheels all 4 corners are getting block so the wheels r jsut resting on the ground and i am putting it next to a tree and ratchet straping it to the tree and it will be tied off too but is tin gonan be to load when it rains and stuff or if its out wont it matter for a while. i am still thinking of putting some wood roof with chingles on. let me know

We used 3 ft anchors on the corners of ours bolted to the legs after driving them down. Has been able to withstand some pretty excessive winds, but I still want to go back and put in some angle crossbracing. Jeramie
Re: box blind on wheels On the way to work a couple of years ago I noticed a boxblind on wheels. A guy took an old Truck bed trailer and boxed it in. He pulled it out there with a 4-wheeler. I thought it was a great idea! Its still out there and the deer walk right by it...... VTbowman
Re: box blind on wheels Use tin for the roof and a 6" slopeed roof will work fine. Thats what I did on my box stand. Having it on wheels is good for moving it as needed. You will find that deer will change habits from year to year in some areas. Mine was not made on wheels but skid runners to be pulled around like a sled or slay.. I had to move mine this summer across a field to get a better view of the end and wood edge of an adjacent field they normalal use.. Plus to get closer 100 yards closer to another field they have been using more and more in the past 2 years.. Lets see some pics!
wtnhunt
Re: box blind on wheels Again, I would not use shingles. The tin should be fine. As for whether or not it is in a good spot, I would sit in it at least a month before the season and that way if you have to move it, the deer will have plenty of time to get well adjusted to it. deerkillr777
Re: box blind on wheels every tiem i go down i forget the camera hopefully tomarrow right now i got the front and the basck done. the shoting rail is about 30 inches tall. is that tall enough or to tall i am about 5'7 and everyone else that i hutn with is betweent that and 5'10. well it is goign good later
VTbowman
Re: box blind on wheels I am 5' 7" tall and sort of stocky. I made my windows at 36" and found they were to low after a few years worth of hunting out of it. It seemed like we were always slouched over to look out or shoot.. I raised it a whole foot so now I do not have to slouch to look out the windows sitting in a steel folding chair. JMO but I would raise the shooting rail higher... wtnhunt
Re: box blind on wheels I sat a lawn chair inside and figured out how high would be a comfortable heighth for my wife and also forme as well. Would guess our windows are around 40 inches to the top of the shooting shelf(2X6) turned up.
