LifeNRA
I just bought a new GPS unit, its a Garmin Etrex Vista. Bought it at www.walmart.com for $218! Cabela's wanted $269! Anyways, this thing is pretty cool! I need to play and learn now!
thebig1
Re: New GPS! hey john, just wanted to let you know that my dad went to get one from wal mart and the guy suggested the $100 GPS. he said they were basically the same thing and that he shouldn't spend the extra money. but hey, congrats on the new toy. dg
Re: New GPS! Unfortuneately GARMIN has several models of the "etrex" line. Some are much better than others. A basic etrex is about $99 vs an etrex Vista for $200-300 depending on the store. The basic models do not have the ability to download to your computer. I have the Vista, and when I go scouting for deer, I can save all the deer sign and implant that toward a topo map and save it for next hunting season. The cheap ones can't do that. They are not equal.
JimT
Re: New GPS! I have the regular $99.00 Etrax. It is perfect for what I need. Geocaching and scouting. Have fun with your new toy.
LifeNRA
Re: New GPS! I wanted the one with the coastal navigational markers on them! Plus this one has the biggest memory for D/L'ing maps! Besides I saved $60 bucks on this unit!
