Yep , I take my 30/06 out & shoot every 6 weeks or so. Also shoot 22's in both rifle & pistol. Great way to spend an afternoon.

I also use milk jugs, 1 liter pepsi bottles etc filled with water & watch them explode !! Never had found a bullet in the jug, I have dug some out of the sand in the back stop.

I pratice off hand, resting on a post, seated etc--- very little off sand bags.

Re: Did some shooting today..

I shoot all year also, wiht my 6mm mostly but shoot about 100 rounds a year with the 7mm to keep in the groove.[the 6mm prob 1000 a year] I love putting out empty windshield washer fluid jugs[i get from work] I fill about 20 up with warm water and put a few spoons of baking soda in each. I then go out to a huge field with a 2500 acre wetland behind. There is about 4 miles of nothing there. I drive the field putting these out whenever I feel like it and drive to the edge were I shoot from.I grab the shooting sticks and start shooting. They are anywares from 100-500 yards. It is great practice at judging distance[a jug is close to the depth of a coyote ] plus the warm water and soda makes the biggest pop !!LOL I have found parts of the casings of the v-max on the inside of the bottles at 400-500 yards. great fun!!

Re: Did some shooting today..

I try to shoot at least 3 times a month during the off season. This summer, the plan is to shoot all practice off hand when not working up loads for different guns. Mainly this will be done with my 22 rimfire, but I will burn up a couple bricks every month. There will also be varmint guns and the big boomers.
