Guest Andrea
Remember when you were little and your parents made you eat stuff like broccoli and carrots and peas? And you hated it!!!!! Isn't it weird how as we age....we start to like the things we hated to eat as a child? I hated broccoli. Love it today. Yeah, there are exceptions. I still won't eat liver or turnips. What did you hate to eat as a kid, but now you love to eat?????

Leo
Re: Acquired tastes When I was in the hospital. I said, "I don't care if it'll make a goat sick. I'm eating!" I do have my limits though. I only made it about 3/4" thru a bowl of Menudo (Cow's stomach) and just couldn't finish it. How can eating stomach upset your stomach? Well it did
Guest Finn
Re: Acquired tastes Growing up, the only vegetable I'd eat was green beans. Now, love most of them. Still can't hang with liver or beets.

I will eat the heck out of some ketchup though I know I didn't like mashed potatoes as kid and love them now. Salads, I love salads today. I used to hate things like asparagus, clams, oysters, calamari and squash but now I love em. I like the healthier foods and the lighter things that don't weigh so heavy on your stomach. M00N
Re: Acquired tastes When I was younger I disliked green beans, cabbage, sauerkraut, raw tomatoes, fish, scallops, oysters, bread crust, escargot, calamari, caviar, menudo, and sushi. I ate a lot of other things though that most people I know won’t touch such as chicken and deer hearts wrapped in bacon or boiled, cow and deer liver boiled or fried, etc. Now a days I grew to like green beans, cabbage, sauerkraut, 4 types of fish (salmon, walley, catfish, & flounder), and bread crust. I still like chicken and deer hearts wrapped in bacon or boiled, cow and deer liver boiled or fried, etc. But, I still dislike raw tomatoes (but I will eat them if someone serves them mixed in a food like tacos), scallops, oysters, escargot, calamari, caviar, menudo, and most sushi (except Japanese style sushi). [/ QUOTE ] Ditto. With 4 siblings, you better be fast, and like what was put out. Only thing I can remember refusing to eat back then was Smoked Sausage, kraut and taters. I won't say I love that meal now, but I do like it. Shrimp comes to mind. My mom used to boil it every now and then and stink up the house, and I never ate it. Now I love it. Guest Andrea
Re: Acquired tastes Anyone ever eat liverwurst? We ate it when we were little. And actually liked it. I don't think it even had liver in it. Oscar Mayer made it. It was like a meat "spread" you ate on bread like a sandwich.
wtnhunt
Re: Acquired tastes Really not very much I didnt like as a kid that I will eat now, but there are a few. Think a few things like potato salad and meat loaf I didnt care for as a kid were just because my mother cooked foods too bland.
