Thinking about a new truck

Since I have a new job that's here in town, and I don't have to drive 40 miles a day back and forth to work, I have been thinking about getting a truck. I was browsing the auto trader tonight and I came across this one. It REALLY caught my eye, man I sure would love to get this one! cool.gifcool.gif

Why the sad face, its a Chevy, means he'll spend more time hunting instead of repairing it!! Glad its not a Blue Oval then he'd have to start buying repair manuals! LOL!! smile.gif

I have to agree with Lou on this one. My Z71 has 221K and is still going strong.

Shaun that truck sure looks great. Hopefully I will get to see it in a couple weeks.

Re: Thinking about a new truck

Great truck! Bowtie or not. Seriously, good luck. I bet it would treat you well.

Im very partial to Ford. Ive worked my trucks hard and they have never let me down. If I were to switch brands id be looking at a Nissan Titan or a Chevy (Z71). The one thing that I can about Chevy is they make/ made the best engine of all time, the 350. Its number one on my list followed by the Ford 302. Now they werent a powerhouse like the 350, 351, 454, 460, etc but the 302 is also a great little motor. Easy to work on, decent power, easy to hop up etc.

A few years ago I had a wreck (rear ended). The insurance Company put me in a crew cab Dodge Dakota 4x4 with a V8. Im not a big dodge guy at all but I drove that truck for several months and loved it. I think their bigger trucks seem to stream line manufactured but this little dude was loaded and what a blast.

but have ya looked at any Dodges by any chance? LOL! Personally, Dodge's are better than Chevys. . .except a few in particular. lol.

I just talked to a friend of mine who has an '04 Dodge 3/4 ton and in the last 6 months he has put in new injectors and had to replace the electrical components! This was to the tune of over $6,000.00 because it was out of warranty and he has about 65,000 miles on it!

NO, I wouldn't look at a DODGE! I will stick to the Chevy! My '03 is running great and I have not spent one penny other than oil and gas!!

Re: Thinking about a new truck

I've never owned a Chevy, but I've owned a few Ford's. The engines were great on the Ford's but the suspension were weak, didn't last long and I was forever dumping money into them.

Seeing how you're a Chevy mechanic, as long as the you like the looks, and its in good repair...I think you got a winner, sharp lookin' truck.

Re: Thinking about a new truck

I'm a Ford man and they have treated me good.

The only thing I would not like about that truck is the SHORTBOX. When I haul things I need lots of room and still, sometimes I have stuff hanging out the tailgate. I would consider looking at a full size box

Can you fit a 4-wheeler into a shortbox??

Last, does it have 4-wheeel drive?? That is a must for me. I wouldn't buy a truck without 4-wheel drive.

Good luck and nice lookin' truck

Re: Thinking about a new truck

Just got an email from the dealership with a couple more pics. I like it more every time I look at it. It also has 285 tires on it... grin.gif

pointing dogs rule - Yes, it is 4x4. Yeah you can fit a 4-wheeler in the back, I don't have one anyway. wink.gif
