deershed
Re: Woodcock The top pics were taken close to the old city dump in Rockville.I tried looking into finding some areas close to Poolsville.Even stopped in at Tinkers to see if he could send me somewhere. If you know Tinker I never made it back out of his shop. I had a pretty good year overall finding 103 sheds for the year, most came from Montgomery county. I did look some around the Poolsville fed store and along Muddy Run.They opened the park close to the store to bowhunting which messed the shedhunting up there. I've got a pile of "as they lay" pics of my finds for the year, here's a couple pics of all of them. [image][/image] [image][/image]

DSGB
Re: Woodcock I saw my first woodcock during this past deer season. I tried to get a picture, but every time I would go to push the button on the camera, he'd take off and land about ten feet away.
deershed
Re: Woodcock Thanks everyone on the sheds!!It's a nice pile, but not too many big antlers. You spend Jan thur Arpil looking you better come up with something. [ QUOTE ] My brother works across the roadx from the old dump. Thaqt land backs up to lake neadwood dosnt it? There are some monsters in there. Was tinker any help in finding property to hunt? [/ QUOTE ] Yes the old dump does back-up against lake Needwood. They've been doing sniper hunts in there the last several years. It's really putting a hurt'in on the deer and finding sheds. You might ran across a monster in there, but for the most part the big ones are gone. It was nice talking with Tinker, but he couldn't put me on any new areas to search. DSGB-I jumped a couple up everyday. This was the first one I got to watch land again then get close enough for pictures.I tried getting pics of the mother of the chicks.Every time I was ready to snap the pic she'd fly alittle ways away. deershed
Re: Woodcock Mirage-I've drove past the area your talking about.Every time I've drove past in season the parking lot looks pretty full. Whitetailhunter19-This year was a bust on the elk sheds from upstate Pa.I've got 11 elk sheds in 3 years looking before this year. I found these 5 antlers my first year looking. The 2 in the middle are a matching set (6X7) and the antler on far right is my biggest antler. It had a 46" main beam and the antler weighed 11lbs. M00N
Re: Woodcock Nice pictures of the Woodcock. Never seen one yet, heard them flush before though, just couldn't see through the thick cover. Also a nice deer shed collection you have too. I really like the elk sheds. I was up looking for them in Elk County when I was up turkey hunting last week and didn't find any myself this year either. I've only found 1 set of sheds (2x2) and 1 antlered skull (3x2) when shed hunting in PA for whitetail sheds. I've yet to find elk sheds. I wish I could found the sheds to one of these two bad boys that were sporting these antlers in Elk County last rifle deer season.
