DSGB
Russ Springer was ejected from the game for this act, but there was no doubt that he left the premises with the prolonged cheers of thousands ringing in his ears.

texastrophies
Re: My new hero! Yea, Springer & Garner showed a lot of class in that one. Now all of the kids can look up to them and use them as role models. I don't particularly like bonds, but those two lost all respect in my book. If you want to walk him, fine do that, but to intentionally hit him, really sends the wrong message IMHO. It's not like he was lighting the place up. I wish the league would suspend both of them. TxAgJeepr
Re: My new hero! I read about this in Stars&Stripes this morning... What if it slipped. Accidents Happen. And according to what I read, Springers wife is going in for surgery, maybe his head wasn't in it or the situation just overcame him and he lost control. Or you're correct and he's a jerk. No one but Springer really knows.
texastrophies
Re: My new hero! I could agree with the slip if it would have been 1 pitch. The first pitch he through went behind the batter, the next 4 were all way inside. I can't believe anybody that saw it would honestly think it was not intentional. DSGB
Re: My new hero! Oh, I believe it was intentional. Like you said, anyone that saw it knows it was intentional. That's why he got thrown out. If I were a major league pitcher, I'd do the same thing when Bonds came up to bat. Why waste three pitches when you can get it done in one? Even though it took him four. TxAgJeepr
Re: My new hero! Let me clarify... I'm not saying that he wasn't trying to pitch Bonds inside or even trying to walk him intentionally, I mean he may have just slipped and gone TOO far inside. Oh well, old news and Springer is halfway thru his suspension.

I'm not trying to be spiteful here but Bond's attitude is the worse you can imagine. He turns down autographs to handicapped children from St. Judes????? Come on, this man is nothing but scum. All that pitch was, was just a little bit of "back to ya" for all the rude behavior that Bond's has had towards fans. Come on the guy that caught his 713th home-run ball was escorted to the VIP office and was introduced to Bond's himself. After asking to have the ball autographed Bond's said no. This guy is a dirtball and in the famous words my dad use to use "what goes around comes around."
