Re: Update on Linda

I will put in some prayers. In the meantime tell the guy to ask his doctor about a supplement they can take that makes them hungry. 2 of my nieghbors have taken Chemo and the doctor prescribed something you drink and you will be hungry and able to hold food down.

Re: Update on Linda

TX DH, she has some liquid appetite stimulants but gags taking liquid meds.

She is eating better since her system is more in balance. cool.gif

Re: Update on Linda

GregE,

Glad to hear that Linda is doing better and feeling better. We have several cancer patients at our church and they universally said that juicing (vegetables and fruits) has done wonders for their health....not necessarily getting them cancer free but helped them feel better and have more energy. IMHO, that can't hinder you in getting rid of the cancer. Perhaps that will work.

In fact, GregE, I went and dropped off some blood at the doctor's office yesterday morning before breakfast all due to Linda. It has been about 3 years and my doctor was refusing to refill any prescriptions until I came in for a physical! laugh.gif I am pretty young so the fun physicals don't start for about another 4 years or so!

Re: Update on Linda

If you haven't encouraged your loved ones to get checked reguarly, please do so. Each of Linda's cancer episodes were caught early .... don't wait, and don't forget yourself.

If sharing our struggle helps some others head off theirs- we're winning. cool.gif

Follow up.

We met with the Oncologist yesterday. Her blood sugar is still running slightly high but within limits considering the chemo. She is feeling and acting much better.

With her insuliin levels under control they have been able to do the full dose of chemo. The tumor that extends above her collarbone still hasn't shrunk yet but it is softer!! A big first step to kicking it to the curb.

Re: Update on Linda

A couple major events since the last post.

The CT scan two weeks ago showed NO improvment over the one done in April. this after 3 weeks on the fifth chemo combination. We were running out of options...

This week's email report:

It seems I miss some of the most important appointments though I've endeavored to be there to share the burden when possible. Today I had several things going on and had asked Lin last night if she thought any important discussions were likely.

So I wasn't present when Dr Ye said that he felt that the large tumor was 'CONSIDERABLY REDUCED!!'

We won't get any quantifiable information until the CAT scan next month but that is the first step toward recovery we've seen for quite a while. Chemo treatments will continue for another 5 weeks

Linda has been eating better - fair sized meal portions with lots of cherries, tomatoes and grapes consumed. Popcorn and an occasional Klondike Bar are treats. Her blood sugar is doing well.

She still is susceptable to infections and was fighting another one during our family reunion / wedding trip last weekend. Otherwise, it was good to see some family long absent.

We're certainly not done with this struggle- but wanted to get this positive note out!!

Thank you all for being there.

Re: Prayers for a fellow archer and his wife

I hope everyone reads this for the next time they want to bicker over trivial things in life like who takes the trash out or does the dishes or folds the laundry. CHerish the moments you can think about doing these things and remember they can always be worse. Greg, you and LInda are a testament to what inner strength looks like. I know you probably have more battles in your life than you tell us about but with the strength you have both shown, it's easy to see how a person can handle anything through God almighty. My prayers are sent to you and your family as well as my admiration for your strength and praise to God.

Thank you all. Nothing new after today's treatment which is a good thing.

BowJoe, absolutely no doubt the prayers of family and friends all over the country have helped us get this far.
