slugshooter
And got a Glock 23 .40 caliber. I've been wanting a Glock and wasn't too overly happy with the XD, the extractor shattered after about 500 rounds, plus, there's a wealth of stuff for a Glock and it's still hard to find XD accessories. Plus, I've been wanting a .40 anyways. Got $225 for the XD and the Glock was $479 so I paid half out of pocket.
hangunnr
Re: Traded in my Springfield XD9.... $225 on trade.......wow.......did he at least offer you a smoke afterwards....... The Glock 23 is IMO a very easy gun to shoot. I've run quite a few rounds through my buddies 23. hangunnr

[/ QUOTE ] Sorta what I was thinking...all things being equal...there is about $20 difference in these two guns new. I'm not a fan of Glocks...but I still think he took advantage of that deal! Anyways...good luck with your new gun and keep us updated on how you like it.

[/ QUOTE ] Yeahhh, I wasn't too thrilled with the offer he made but my mind was made up, plus, that store is the cheapest in town as far as handgun prices are concerned. There's another one about 20 miles away I went to awhile back, his XD45 was about $100 more than the store where I traded in and got the Glock. TexasDeerHunter
Re: Traded in my Springfield XD9.... Great. The Glock is a workhorse. My wife has a Model 19 in 9mm, I carry a Colt 1911 officers 45acp.

I'm not hear to bad mouth or promote any particular gun but I did some checking for my own information. It sounds like the extractor issue on your XD was a freak...very UNcommon thing. I spoke with guys who shot as little as 100 rounds a year to as many as 200 a day and none have experienced this problem. Regarding accessories...it's true that Glock accessories definitely seem to be readily available pretty much anywhere you turn, the accessories that I have needed for my XD have been very easy to find. Hopefully, you experience hasn't completely turning you away from SA. Best of luck.

Best of luck. [/ QUOTE ] Not at all, I still have my Springfield 1911 and don't plan on getting rid of it. I'm pretty sure the extractor busting was a freak thing considering all the reports I read before I bought the XD, but, I guess having it happen once put it in my mind that it could happen again and at possibly the wrong moment. Who's to say that I won't have the same problem with the Glock. It's just one of those things. Both companies have an exceptional product, I've just been wanting a Glock so I figured I'd go ahead and get one, plus, I like how the Glock 23 is considered a compact, still easy enough to conceal but not as awkward in my hands as a sub-compact. Strut10
Re: Traded in my Springfield XD9.... I believe you'll like your newly acquired piece, Sluggo. My first Glock was the 23. It's a heck of a gun. I ended up with a 29 as my everyday carry gun. But the 23 is just soooo darn shootable. Thanks for reminding me........I really oughta get it out and shoot it someday soon.
