I certainly was. I hated wearing dresses. all my friends were boys. I loved playing Star Wars and The Dukes Of Hazzard. Hated all things girly. I even insisted that my mother let me get my picture taken like my best friend Jimmy. She did. So I wore denim over-all shorts with NO SHIRT. She did put my hair in pig tails though. grin.gif To me, boys had WAY more fun than prissy little girls.

Of course, around 5th-6th grade, that all changed to an extent. Still hated dresses, but took a feminine turn so to speak. Started liking boys romantically. But never lost that tomboy edge. wink.gif

I guess I'd have to say I was a tomboy. Mom couldn't keep in out of the woods, creeks, and trees for anything!! Got my behind blistered more than once for not being where I was supposed to be. smirk.gif But she sure used my 'skills' when it was time to pick fruit or shake down the walnuts that we'ed collect each year. Ahhhh, the good ol' days. I was envious of the 'no shirt thing', too.

Re: Were you a tomboy ??

Yep I was a tomboy. I ran around without a shirt all the time when really little. Once I got too big to do that I thought it was a big rip that guys could still do it and I couldn't. Getting me in a dress or skirt was like getting me to go get teeth pulled. I'm still that way today. I only wear dresses when I'm forced to by the occasion, such as when I was a bride's maid in my cousin's wedding. I had a change of clothes though and after all the pictures at the reception were finished, that thing came off so quick to be replaced with pants and a dress shirt.

Growing up my guy friends were about my only stable friends, while my female friends they changed constantly every year due to I'd get annoyed with them and lose interest in the friendship. I would easily become annoyed by my female friends, most of the time, because they complained about all the critters I kept in my house and how I liked to hunt and fish. That was the quickest way to close a friendship with me when I was younger was saying that my love of hunting was "wrong and killing bambi". I always replied "Bambi tastes good on my plate. If we ever got stranded somewhere I know I'd at least survive the experience because I could hunt my own food. There are no delivery places in the woods when you're stranded, it isn't survivor island where if win a challenge someone will bring you food." smirk.gif

Today I have a few stable female friends, but they all are into hunting/fishing and don't mind my pets. I call the ones that mind my hunting more aquaintances than anything because they ignore my one true passion in my life, hunting, so they never really get to know the real me if they ignore that aspect of my life. I have mostly guy friends still. My closest friend happens to be one of my guy friends, not one of my female friends. It's just who I am. I will never be a girly girl. I am not into shopping, cell phones, getting my hair and nails done, etc. I find it all a waste of money. The only time you see me on a shopping spree is in Cabela's, Gander Mountain, Bass Pro, a computer shop, or a guitar shop. grin.gif

Re: Were you a tomboy ??

LOL...................I hated make up when my mother and aunt first put it on me. I thought I looked ridiculous. But now, of course, I really like it. I love to wear pretty things and paint my nails, but more often than not................I am wearin tennis shoes and shorts and am outside in the sun.

Fishing will always be my first true passion...then hunting. Guess cause I've been fishing all my life. I just started hunting 5 years ago.

And God blessed me with 2 little boys. smile.gif ( Guess cause He knew I wouldn't know how to braid a little girl's hair) LOL!!! grin.gif

Re: Were you a tomboy ??

Oh yes...I loved climbing trees, fishing and creating ramps for our bikes. The A team and Dukes of Hazards were my favorite shows.

Sometime around middle school I finally decided doing hair, make up and dressing up wasn't too bad. However on the weekends you will still find me in comfortable shoes, pony tail and jeans.
