WIDeer4Life
Hey guys. I've been using Muzzy 100 g. 3 blade BHs for a while now. They seem to be pretty good but Im a little worried about the accuracy. Im thinking about trying a mechanical BH this season and am curious as to what the best ones out there are. I've been looking at the Grim Reapers and am considering them. If anyone could provide me with any info on them or on any other BH you recommend Id like to hear what you have to say. If you've used Grim Reapers before please respond to this. Im looking for an accurate BH that won't fail on me when it hits the mark. Thanks guys! hoytguy08
Re: Broadhead Recommendations i haven't used the reapers so i can't help there ...but i would reccomend the rocket steelhead. they are very accurate and have awesome penetration. I only shoot about 53 lbs w/ a 28 in. draw and haven't shot a deer w/out a pass thru, including a deer this year that i hit both shoulders on....in my opinion they are the best mechanicals on the market, but i'm sure many others would get the job done. VermontHunter
Re: Broadhead Recommendations I have the Grim Reapers and I'll tell you they are deadly accurate..... and a PLUS with them is that they can be locked open and be used as a fixed blade as well... May I ask why you are not considering some other Fixed Blade Head.???
PAbowhunter4life
Re: Broadhead Recommendations I don't use the Reapers personally, but I have heard nothing but good about them from A LOT of people. There are a lot of good mechanicals on the market these days and the Reaper is definitely one of them. Hoytguy recommended probably the best on the market IMO; that's why you'll find some Steelhead 125's in my quiver this fall. As for fixed blade heads that will fly great, look in to Slick Tricks, NAP Nitrons, Rocky Mt. Turbos, Rocket Ultimate Steels, and the list goes on lol

Michiganbowhunter_SQ2
Re: Broadhead Recommendations i shoot the Grim reaper...and while i haven't shot a deer with them yet i can tell you they shoot EXACTLY like my feild tips....my cousin is the one who got me to try these....he has shot 5 deer with them in the last 2 seasons and none of them have gone farther than 50 yards...and like vermonthunter sais...they can be use as mechanicals or you can open them and use them as fixed blade...no rubber band or o-ring either
AdvantageTimberLou
Re: Broadhead Recommendations I have some Grim Reapers and when I first start putting these together I was thinking this thing has too many little parts, but once together, they are AWESOME!! Can be shot as fixed too like mentioned above. If your going for Bambi maybe something else will do but if your going for Godzilla go with Grim Reaper!! One of the best mechanical heads on the market!!!
Tominator
Re: Broadhead Recommendations Only mechanical I've used is the NAP Spitfire. I've killed one deer with them. They're good, I just prefer a fixed blade.

Jeramie
Re: Broadhead Recommendations [ QUOTE ] muzzy shot great for me dont think that bythemselfs there inaccurate maybe your bow wasnt tuned, i shot 4 blade 100's [/ QUOTE ] I agree. Id check the bow itself. If that didnt cut it switch to a 4-blade Muzzy and give em another try. That being said, Mechanicals are still getting a bad wrap to some degree and they shouldnt. For whitetail, a good mechanical is Deadly. Ive shot several different broadheads over the years and a few mechanicals made me VERY happy. One of the baddest is the Rocky Mountain Gator but you better be pushing some KE to blow a 2"bh through anything. Spitfires are also a nice choice. The only thing I really dont like about mechanicals is the blades never seem to be as solid or durable as a fixed head like a Muzzy. Once I strapped up the Muzzy and noticed how the blade interlock I was VERY impressed. Again, I wouldnt be afraid to try a mechanical but id check the tuning first and give Muzzy one more try... If that didnt work, to each his own.
Widowmaker
Re: Broadhead Recommendations I use the NAP spitfires. Have had very good luck with them and know alot of guys around here that use them. One guy killed a bear up in Canada using the spitfires. Convinced me! WIDeer4Life
Re: Broadhead Recommendations Thanks for all the input guys. Ill try tuning my bow this summer with the Muzzys then see what happens from there. I guess you can always learn something new in bowhunting and choosing a BH is definately one those learning opportunities. Thanks again guys. PAbowhunter4life
Re: Broadhead Recommendations WIDeer.................. don't listen to all the brainwashed Muzzy shooters lol. My bows have always been tuned to the max by people with A LOT of knowledge and skill. That being said, 3 blade Muzzy heads have never flown good for me. Thunderheads, Razorbacks, Stingers........... slap on any broadhead and my bow would put it exactly where I was aiming, not with a 3 blade Muzzy though. Now, that is not to say that Muzzy heads aren't good heads, their rep speaks for itself, but none the less search over on ArcheryTalk, Bowsite , Mathews and you'll see that I am not alone in my findings about Muzzy heads. Sometimes heads just don't fly well because of their design and there are a TON more variables involved than just having a tuned bow
craig mack
Re: Broadhead Recommendations To me the Montec G5's are the best fixed blade broadheads out there. I've tried alot of different ones, and the Montec's were the most accurate. JMO
VTbowman
Re: Broadhead Recommendations Another Rocket Steelhead 125 here. Well when I shot compounds anyways. I use cut-on-contact 3 blade heads now off my recurve. Magnus Snuffers 125g are some bad motha johns let me tell you... They just look mean.. LOL Although I am thinking hard about trying some G5 Teken mech heads off the recruev this year...
