SuperMn106
Re: #714 Bonds was the best Hitter that i have ever seen untill Big Albert P came around, But Bonds skills are diminishing and i dont think he will get there. The guy i think who will break Hanks record is A-Rod. Like it or not Barry has great talent one of the best since willie mays i believe. In now way did the steroids help him hit the ball if he indeed took any. It hasnt been proved yet. I thought this country was Innocent untill proven guilty? Everyone is just all over him for 'allegedly' (sp) taking steroids. But thats just my opinion though.

okbowman
Re: #714 I don't think he's gonna catch Hank!! He's got 41 to go and at his pace that will probably take a year and a half, I don't think his injury plagued, steroid helped knees are gonna last that long!! PAbowhunter4life
Re: #714 Do steroids make you a better hitter? Will they make you contact the ball more? Do they give you more hand to eye coordination? Will it magically turn you from a .240 hitter to a .300 hitter???? If your answer to this is yes, I ask you to look at the questions, then come back with an answer when you actually have a clue. Now, that being said, who knows if he'd have ever gotten to this point without roids. Maybe 100 of the home runs he has now only make it to the warning track, so instead of 714 he's "only" at 614. Yes, I know nothing has been proven, but anyone with half a brain cell already knows the answer. At any rate, gold gloves aren't brought on by steroids and the man was putting up good numbers and winning gold gloves when he was a SCRAWNY little guy here in Pittsburgh. Now, don't get me wrong, he is arrogant and I'd love to smack him upside that melon sized head with a bat, but like him or not, the man is one heck of a baseball player. P.S.- If Bond elects to catch Aaron, he will do it, he's only 39 home runs away and how many has Bonds been hitting a year for the last 6 or 7 years? At any rate, I'll bet money that after he passes the Babe and all this pressure is off of him he'll go on a TEAR and get real close to 755 real fast

Fact: stronger batter swings the bat faster. Fact: faster bat makes the ball go farther. Go back and look at his statistics in Pittsburgh days when he was scrawny, then look at his stats after he magically bulked up. Now, if you can look at that and say roids didn't help him get to 714, I think you're living in a dream world.
SuperMn106
Re: #714 Fact: Barry had home run power when he was in Pitt. Fact: Steroids does not help with hand eye coordination. Biggest Fact of them all: Barry has not been guilty about taking steroids. Bonds could have bulked up with different supplements and hard work. When i was high school i knew 4 guys that were like my size and bulked up a lot like Bonds, and they did legally. It is all about how hard you are willing to work. Look at Rafeal Palmero, he took steroids and he didnt bulk up. So how can you say just cuz someone got stronger and bigger that he took steroids? I dont think you can. Tominator
Re: #714 Fact: 1986 to 1995 Barry averages 29.78 dingers a season Fact: 1996 to 2004 Barry averages 45.67 taters a season. I don't know how anyone can look at those stats and not raise an eyebrow. Shame in a way we'll probably never know if he's guilty or not. I don't think he'll get caught, or ever stand trial for steroid use. As for me, I think the evidence in the stats is clear. I agree eye hand coordination doesn't play a part in steroid use or no steroid use, the man's an athlete and he's going to hit the ball either way, but why wasn't he hitting 45 home runs a year back in the 80's and early 90's? Did he magically get better eye hand coordination?
snapper
Re: #714 Anyone here know Barry personally? Does anyone know for a FACT that he took steroids? I guess if you answered yes to either question...you may have a right to judge him. Other wise...either congratulate him and don't point fingers...or just don't post! Im gonna say he got smarter (knew what pitches to look for), im gonna say he started working harder and lifting weights more. Im willing to say he took some type of supplement just not steroids. Because he started hitting more homers that doesnt mean his hand eye coordination got better, Maybe he got more patient and waited for "his" pitch. So he has been hitting a lot of homers for 10 years and there are just now brining in the steroid allegations. That just dont sound right to me. I do get your point though, his outpoint went up drastically, but whos to say that he didnt earn it through hard work, discipline, and preperation? PAbowhunter4life
Re: #714 Fact: roids make you stronger. - YES Fact: stronger batter swings the bat faster. - NO, NO NO NO. I'll bet money I am stronger than Tiger Woods, and I'll also bet money he can swing a golf club faster than I can. For that matter, I'll guarantee that I am stringer than Ken Griffey Jr., and I will guarantee his bat speed is faster than mine too. Strength and bat speed are 2 totally different things, it's a little things called mechanics. Fact: faster bat makes the ball go farther. - Yes, faste rbats and fast pitching make the ball go further, but again, strength and bat speed are 2 totally different things Go back and look at his statistics in Pittsburgh days when he was scrawny, then look at his stats after he magically bulked up. Now, if you can look at that and say roids didn't help him get to 714, I think you're livin in a dream world. Ummmmmm, please show me where I said roids didn't help him get to where he was??? AdvantageTimberLou
Re: #714 Remember the McGuire and Sosa home run derby type season a few years back. Each trying to break the single season Home Run record. McGuire set the single season home run record that reason, he had arms like tree trunks. Anyone remember Mark's earlier days with the A's? Very similiar to a scrawny Barry Bonds when he was with Pittsburgh, look at Geombi (sp?) too, was built like a brick *hithouse a few years back and everyone was skeptical on how he got that big that quick. Truth is we may never know but if you follow baseball your seeing players bigger in size than when they started their careers in baseball and bigger in size towards the middle or end of their careers. Like the signs said, Ruth did it on Hot dogs and Beer!! Too many skeptics on this issue for there not to be any truth to it. Someone, somewhere has the smoking syringe!!! You can't expect a ballplayer to come forward and say yes I did so they will lie like a rug. Its like saying, yes officer, I was going 25 MPH over the speed limit, you would lie like a dog too. So when your career and reputation is on the line all you can do is LIE!!
