The orginal post was about him hitting #714...it didn't take long for folks to start on the roid thing. I think its wrong to judge someone without knowing them. I guess if you like someone without knowing...no harm no foul. But to bad mouth someone that you don't know...thats messed up. You don't have to like the man...fine...but this thread was about him hitting #714. Any and all reply's that don't pertain to that topic...yes, I can tell you not to post. Now, with that said....(to everyone) say what you like about the man...I won't lose any sleep over it. But don't accuse someone of using an illegal drug unless you know some facts. Roids or not, the guy has GREAT!!!! hand eye coordination..... natural hitter made better with hard practice.....roids may have helped him get those long pop -ups out of the park.... who knows.as long as there is competative sprots there will always be teh search for performance enhancers............. its teh simple truth................................. The reasoni cannot stand the guy is that he is a jerk.. i dont need to see a statistic to know that, the man is a racist and a vocal one at that. I don't respect him at all, whether he hits 756 or not, the guy shows no respect for the people that pay to watch him play or the people who write about him! [/ QUOTE ] I am well aware of that, not tooting my own horn or anything, but 325 is 10 lb. lower than my last set of 10 on a work out. I wasn't trying to turn this in to a strength contest, my simple point was mechanics and a smooth swing are going to yield faster bat or club speeds than just pure strength anyday. [/ QUOTE ] He'll be more of a deep ball threat, but he won't be a better hitter. How will using steroids improve him hitting singles, doubles and so forth?? Steroids aren't a finesse drug, they're used for strength enhancement. As I said before, without roids, maybe he only reaches 600, heck, maybe 550, but regardless, he was still putting up mighty impressive numbers.
