If the maximum distance i'm going to be shooting at a deer is approx. 50 yards and the range will only allow you to shoot no less than 100 yards, where should i be shooting on paper at 100 yards to assure pinpoint accuracy under 5 yards with my scope?

its a 30-30 with a 3-9X42 scope on it and a 150gr. round.

Im with the other guys, stick it dead on at 100yds. You wont notice a difference unless you're punching paper.

You can easily get the job done to 75-80 yards. Im very skeptical of the 30-30 at 100yds and beyond but inside of 80 you'll still put a hurt on em!

Good luck!

Re: ? about Sighting in Rifle

thanks for all your responses guys. that seems to be the general concensus.

Jeramie, thats why i love my 30-30. i don't hunt fields, i hunt in the mountains. i need a good brush gun that will put them down within yards and my 30-30 or my greatgrandfathers 32 special do exactly that. i'll never get another rifle. those two do the job just fine.

thanks again guys.

BINGO! Chad, your not going to get pinpoint accuracy from a 30-30. I feel as long as your group is within 3" circle, you'll be fine!!! Believe me my father killed many deer and some muleys with his 30-30! cool.gif
