Here it was once in a lifetime if you take one, now you can wait 2 years and apply or a cow. Then you can apply for left over tags after that. Guest Phaseolus (BeanMan)
Re: We got drawn for moose!!! ID Elk Huntr, Wow and congrats. Both my Wife and I have been applying for Colorado Moose for years. When we do draw I hope it isn't in the same year. I hope you have a crew of people ready to carry, butcher, and eat! Best of luck, BeanMan

Always be a shortage of help when it hits the ground. This had been my #1 dream animal and now I get a chance to go after him.
Guest Colorado Bob
Re: We got drawn for moose!!! Conglads on the draw !! Tell us a little about it. Rifle, archery or black powder. How many years have you been applying? Is it going to be a wilderness hunt? Horseback? Which unit? Take alot of photos-----besure to post one of the shiras here on RT. Now the HARD question---Who has the 1st shot---you or your better half? CB I'm with Beanman----I've been applying since the 1st year they had a season here in Colorado---nothing yet. LOL--I've drawn 2 sheep tags & a mtn goat tag in that time period. Moose is becoming my #1. CB
Texan_Til_I_Die
Re: We got drawn for moose!!! That is just too cool. It's so hard to get a moose tag in the lower 48 these days.
OJR
Re: We got drawn for moose!!! Congratulations! I gave up applying for a moose permit after several years here in Idaho! The main reason I am getting too old! LOL! Did you get the permit for the Panhandle region? Good luck and if you get one, you will have lots of good eating!!! Idaho_ Elk_ Huntr
Re: We got drawn for moose!!! Honestly this was the first time I have ever applied. I know I have a golden horse shoe buried deep. I will be using either a M700 Remington 338 Ultra mag or my new Remington Custom Shop APR in 300 Ultra. We havent decided on what my wife will use. I was thinking about muzzle breaking one of my 7mm Ultra mags for her. Do you think a muzzle break will reduce recoil enough for her to use it?? Season starts Aug 30 and ends Nov. 23 so I may bow hunt some also. The hunt will be in unit 1 hunt area 1-2 which is as far as you can go north in the panhandle. As for who gets the first shot, all I know is if it aint a monster bull I will not shoot one. As for my wife she doesnt know what her limit will be. Its a once in a lifetime deal here so I am going to be a little picky. Thanks!!
OJR
Re: We got drawn for moose!!! Last fall was the first time I saw a bull moose breeding a cow and I don't remember exactly what the date was. That was in unit 8A. I was on an old railroad bed and they were just below me. The bull didn't like me interfering with him and he started for me. I got the heck out of there and about 1/4 mile further up the road, here was another cow moose! Quite a sight to see in the wild! I would hold out for a good sized one! The only problem is it might be tough as nails to eat!!
