Guest hookedonhunting
I'm going on a trip in a couple weeks to a lake in N Ga. i have never fished for them and am wondering what to use and to look for in order to find the fish. Thanks!
muggs
Re: Need help with smallies I don't really fish for them in lakes to much, but I know tubes and crayfish patterns are a standbye. Look for rocky shorelines. As far as finding them in deep water structure, I'm not sure. Reefs should be good if the lake as any.
LifeNRA
Re: Need help with smallies Mornings start out with some topwater! Then if no luck drag some 4 to 6 inch power worms, texas rig!
Shaun_300
Re: Need help with smallies I agree with John, topwater+smallies = a LOT of fun. I also use plastic worms and tube jigs if they're not hitting top water.
OUTSIDER
Re: Need help with smallies Here in Wva, i always do great on tubes, rebel craws, neon green crankbaits with a tight wobble, jointed shad rap...firetiger. White tubes, watermelon, if they are fished hard use micro tubes...strike king makes some good ones, like 2.5 inch long. Good luck!! oh yeah...rig the tubes with a jig head for rock piles...a light wire hook so u can pull it from rocks...or rig it like you would a worm with a sliding bullet weight in front.
