Wow, that's really cool. I wish that I could find some of those!

Come this way, we have slews full. When I was a kid we use to pic them up. My dad still has boxes full. We use to literally just pick them up off the ground.

Too big for an arrowhead and too small for a spear. It was probably either a blade or an atlatl (dart) point.

So how big usually are tips and arrowheads? This is probably 1 3/4 inches long and not quite 1 1/4 inche wide.

Re: Arrowhead?

True arrowheads are almost never over 1.5 inches long. Plus, the Indians only used the bow and arrow for the past 1000 years or so. For the first 10,000 years that they were in North America, they used spears and atlatls so there are many more of those types of points around than the so called "bird points".

BTW - For those who have collections. Do you know that those artifacts may be worth anywhere from a couple of hundred dollars each to as much as a thousand dollars each? Some of the really old stuff that is perfectly intact and high quality workmanship fetches some big bucks at trade shows.

Yep I know some are worth quite a bit. Had a couple offers on mine over the years. I just was young at the time and didn't want to part with them because they were my 'treasures'. Still have them, just stored them away so they were not out where someone in the house can break them. I found almost all mine on a restricted property area that I had permission to arrowhead hunt on when younger. They were found along the Susquehanna River. Some are pretty neat looking.
