buckee Posted June 2, 2006 Report Share Posted June 2, 2006 We've been discussing the size of some of the signatures we have in the forums, and have come to the conclusion, that although some are pretty intrusive while reading through threads, others don't seem too bad. We discussed having a size limit for length and height, based on Pixels, but that was also too limiting for the folks that had personal pictures they wanted to use as a signature. We also discussed the byte size factor, for animations and such, but it's just too complicated for us regular folks to grasp, or do anything about, since 99% of us lack the programs or the knowledge to play with animated gifs. Plus it would be a moderating headache. The last thing we wanted to do was tell everyone they had to downsize what they had, or get rid of it. It's great to see some artistic expression in the forums, as long as we all don't get carried away, size-wise. We came to the conclusion, that it would probably be best not to have a pixel and byte restriction, but to base it on whether or not the signatures in question were intrusive to the members as far as reading, and scrolling. So I am browsing the forums and picking out a few signatures that are noticably large and some that are just a tad large, and changed them for you. All you have to do is re-host them and make the switch, so they don't shut my account at photobucket down...LOL I've asked Luke, (since he has the knowledge and program) to help me downsize any animated signatures in question. Need2hunt(Gary) is also handy at this sort of thing if you need help with down-sizing and animation. I've sent PMs with the new signatures that are a bit smaller now. Some a lot smaller, some just a tad. Let me know when you have them hosted in your own account, so I can make more room in mine. and I hope no one minds too much . There are others that need to be changed as well, but this is a start. Thanks. So PLEASE don't hesitate to ask, we are all here to help as a community,, the MODS can't do it all, NOR should they have to, it's our home to keep clean and neat...
