tedicast
So, I'm sitting here browsing through my August issue of Bow and Arrow Hunting, and what do I see on page 83? An advertisement for Adam & Eve. Now, I know that stuff like this is common everywhere, but do we really need this in our hunting magazines? Just kind of irked me, as it is one of my favorite mags. What do you think?
buckee
Re: Bow& Arrow Hunting advertising PORN???? I think it's disgusting too. Don't these magazine companies realize the age group of hunters that read their stuff...OR..is it that they just don't care and are more concerned about the money they get from the advertizing, and don't really care from who, or for what?? IowaDeerHunter
Re: Bow& Arrow Hunting advertising PORN???? Just like the peterson hunting magazines selling "enhancing" drugs for men and women, and videos for better you know what. AdvantageTimberLou
Re: Bow& Arrow Hunting advertising PORN???? Guess the only way to voice concerns is to send an e-mail to that magazine. Anyone got their e-mail address, if enough of us voice our concerns maybe they will think twice about putting that ad in!
VermontHunter
Re: Bow& Arrow Hunting advertising PORN???? Lou, their site is apparently under construction.... but here's the email address... [email protected] Our magazine racks at the store are plastered with this crap, they pay for the space so thier isn't much that we can do about it there, I have noticed that just about every magazine company is doing this type of advertising tho.... Newarcher
Re: Bow& Arrow Hunting advertising PORN???? I am sorry to say it is becoming much more prevalent. I was watching ESPN's Sunday morning lineup of shows (hunting and fishing) with my son when a HOT TAMALES commercial came on. It is akin to Girls Gone Wild. I freaked out and emailed ESPN and the Cable company which both swear that it was an accident but I have a buddy here at work that just left Turner in their TV production department and he says there is no way it was accidentally aired. It was on purpose and targeted. The only thing you can do is vote with your wallet. Cancel your scription and hit the magazine where it hurts. They generally can't stand to lose any subscribers. Jeramie
Re: Bow& Arrow Hunting advertising PORN???? [ QUOTE ] No worse then the Martin bow ads . Why not bash them also . [/ QUOTE ] Dont shoot him yet! I cant disagree 100%. Adam and Eve should by no means be in hunting magazines. It has nothing to do with the outdoors. I know the magazine has to have advertising but thats the wrong type and then some. As far as Martin, I think their advertisement is a little much too. Granted they are very beautiful women but most of the pics are remotely distastful in comparison to the bows ability to hunt. Put up Brenda Valentine in cammo or even one of their models in camo. However, a girl in "Daisy Dukes" and a button up shirt tied at the bottom isnt a tasteful way to sale a bow either. That is pushing a hunting product based on the "Sex Sales" theory. Not every hunters wants to see that. Personally I would rather hear stats and opinions from people and pro's who have actually put the product to the test. Granted they are much more tasteful the A&E but not every hunter wants to be marketed with Skin. I very much respect and lean a little toward his opinion. just my $.02 Jeramie

RangerClay
Re: Bow& Arrow Hunting advertising PORN???? When we go to outdoor shows, it's a joke between me and the guys. One thing that we look for is which outfitter has the hottest barely dressed babe behind the counter. Seems like they all need one in order to book clients. QDMAworks4me
Re: Bow& Arrow Hunting advertising PORN???? The worst part is a lot of people make a lot of money selling porn and I guess the magazine thinks that as long as the company pays for them to stay in business they will get in on the porn advertising market. Honestly there are some things that should be left alone. I think, as a majority, most people in here enjoy hunting/ fishing for what it is and the purity. Trying to market stuff to people who take the outdoors as something to be respect and preserved, with any level of skin, is wrong. When im in a stand watching the sun comming up, listening to the birds, and watching squirrels, the last thing I think about is a girl holding a bow (or Adult Items). In marketing there is a place for that stuff (no matter how distastful it is) but marketing to hardcore outdoorsman isnt one of them. wtnhunt
Re: Bow& Arrow Hunting advertising PORN???? Dont think hunting mags are really the place for that kind of thing, but magazines do make money on advertisements. It is all about the money. VtBowhunter
Re: Bow& Arrow Hunting advertising PORN???? I don't like it either, but I see why it could happen.....they looked at the demographic for the magazine and see men ages 18 - 40, and then see dollar signs..........I thinks it's just as bad, but see how it happens.......still ain't right. Guest HaDeRonDa
Re: Bow& Arrow Hunting advertising PORN???? I was lost until Tedicast told us what Adam and Eve was. Must be I live in a bubble or have no need. I'll just take it as I live in a bubble. LOL JK I would also agree that it is a bit wacked to advertise in a bow mag. I would think the bow mag would have higher standards. $$ pays I would not say it was advertising "porn" though but no different than a Viagra ad talking about "ED" Still, IMO, I'd rather not see wither Viagra or "Gargen of Eden" garbage. tedicast
Re: Bow& Arrow Hunting advertising PORN???? I understand that advertisers are what keep a magazine in business basically. I also understand the sex sells theory as people have pointed out in the Martin ads. I just think a sexy girl holding a bow, and an ad for A&E are two very different things. We are already labeled, by the anti's as "blood thirsty killers", and "drunks". If this kind of advertising becomes the norm in hunting mags, the antis will start adding the words "perverts" and "sex fiends" to the description of hunters. I'm not a prude by any means, I just don't believe a magazine that is truly trying to help out image as hunters should be selling advertising space to a company like this. Just my opinion. Guest HaDeRonDa
Re: Bow& Arrow Hunting advertising PORN???? Who says those your second two labels are bad? Women as well as men both look for life long partners that are of those labels. If the anti's want to use them, the "evil names" they will need to look in their own bedrooms as well. I'd never buy Playboy but I heard, according to Hughe Hephner that it does have great interviews. Smutt is smutt but your labels that you used are nothing more than the honest truth of what exists in a majority of the househiolds of America. Getting people to admit to it is the hard part. LMBO Now, since this is a family site and a ultra-conservative one at that I can understand your concern but pornography it is not. Distasteful? I certainly agree. As far as the image is concerned. If we look at that let's try to stop the Viagara ads. They make us look like a bunch of guys with personal medical problems who might be more prone to divorse than those that don't hunt.
