Muskellunge! PICS

I went bass fishing with one of my uncles buddies over Memorial Day weekend at a small local lake. The bass were up in the shallows spawning so we were drifting close to shore casting spin baits and eventually the wind picked up and carried us toward the middle of the lake close to the beach and swimming area. We decided to make a couple more casts and motor over to the other side. My uncles buddy Mo says "i think i got one". And I looked over and laughed and said "what a snag?" When I looked his little 6' rod was bend over so far im surprised it didnt snap. I watched him for a second and pretty soon I seen the rod start bouncing, then I knew there was a fish on there. He fought it for a minute and pretty soon I seen this huge musky or northern roll over in the water and said "holy crap! you got a bigt one on there". Then he replies "shoot, we dont even have a net, how we gonna land it?" And I told him just to try to wear the fish down and I'd try to land it with my hands. crazy.gif The fish didnt fight much and he got him up to the boat in 5-10 minutes. I leaned over the side and grabbed the line with one hand and got my other hand in a gill and pulled him in. And I'll remind you we were only about 25 yards off the end of the swimming area with about 50-75 people in the water all watching this action. And I'll tell you now that there wasnt 50-75 people in the water after we pulled the fish in. grin.gif The fish ended up being 45" and we dont know the weight. Mo says "i think they gotta be 50" to keep." And I said "that sounds kinda big, you sure?" And he says "yup, lets take some pictures and throw him back." So thats what we did. After returning to the truck we got out the fishing guide and they only had to be 42" grin.gif. But hes thinking of having a replica mount done. Well heres the picture, sorry for the quality...that was taken on a digital camera then scanned. 45" musky, 6' medium action rod, 10# test line, and a shartrousse spinner bait.

awesome fish. about a month ago a buddy and i were fishin a public lake and i caught a lil 30 inch muskie while bass fishin. it was so much fun.as we were leaving there was this guy that was going bank fishin for muskie. well the next day at my work place (gander mountain) he was back in with pictures. he caught a 54 inch muskie. he was there by himself and he didnt want to kill the fish so he waded in the water with it until someone came along to take some pics of it.
