They have now made it legal in TN to shoot game from a motorized vehicle, so long as it is not able to be licensed for highway usage. They changed the centerfire rifle from a minimum of .24 to now be that ANY centerfire rifle is legal crazy.gif. Just dont understand what whoever is responsible for making these types of changes is thinking confused.gif.

Sometimes it's hard to figure, who makes up these laws & Regulation for States' DNR's. I was shocked when Indiana passed a ruling making the .410 slug legal for Deer! shocked.gif

That is unbelievable! I feel sorry for those TN deer cause that's just another advantage for the hunter.... or disadvantage should I say. Now some hunters are probably just going to cruise the roads instead of hunting in the wild like they should be.

Re: cannot believe the new TN regs

Both of those have been legal in Texas for many years and we've got the largest deer herd in the U.S. It all comes down to hunter attitudes.

It's still not legal to shoot from a public road, so your "road hunters" (i.e. poachers) haven't really gained anything and the 22 caliber centerfires will most likely be used either by kids, hopefully under close adult supervision, or by adults who are expert shots. I use a 220 Swift with the proper bullets to take my does every year and it's more than adequate.

Bottom line is that you probably won't see much, if any, impact from those changes.

Hope you are right about that, but am concerned that this will just lead way to more of what around here seems to already be heading in the wrong direction. More wounded deer, more people with ignorance not understanding the laws, more excuses for poachers to try and push it.

The deer herd in this particular area has had a very sharp decline over the past 3 years. Hope it does not continue on the way it has.
