Re: world hunt competition

Just found this on the Carbon Express Website:

MEDIA ALERT

"FLUSHING, Mich., June 9 - No formal agreement exists between the World Hunting Association (WHA) and Eastman Outdoors, INC. (CARBON EXPRESS®) or Gorilla, Inc. (Gorilla Treestands™). Recent reports indicated that Eastman Outdoors, Inc. and Gorilla, Inc. are sponsors of the World Hunting Association. Eastman Outdoors and Gorilla did meet with the WHA. After careful consideration of the WHA program, Eastman Outdoors, Inc. and Gorilla, Inc. decided to decline the sponsorship offer from WHA."

Re: world hunt competition

Thank you arrow777 and welcome to the Realtree forums. I hope they all decline their offer.

This reminds me of that Internet hunting scheme that started up a few years ago in Texas. Since then, Texas has outlawed hunting from the Internet. smile.gif

It's one thing to have a catch and release Bass tournament, but no way can you do this with animals and get away with it.

Now is the time to stop this thing before the mass media gets a hold of this

Too late for that. It's all over web

WHA Statement

June 9, 2006

We here at G5 Outdoors would like to take this opportunity to talk with you about the World Hunting Association (WHA).

G5 is a family-owned and -operated company. President and co-owner Louis Grace, his sons and co-owners Matt and Nate Grace are passionate about archery and seek to preserve this right for generations to come. This passion derives from the very heritage and tradition of this sport. Our motto “Designed to Hunt” explains our mission and determination toward the hunt. Hunting to us means food on the table and, if we get lucky, a mount on the wall.

WHA and its founder Dave Farbman seek to promote the same hunting tradition in hopes of not only revitalizing the existing hunting community, but also expanding on this base to secure our hunting heritage. Mr. Farbman’s enthusiasm for hunting comes from his early introduction as a teenager, when he learned about the tradition and ethics that make hunting great. His bold plan intends to grow the enthusiasm for hunting by creating a new vehicle to educate, promote and entertain both the avid hunter and those who do not participate but have the interest and values to one day join us on a hunt.

G5 Outdoors has supported and will continue to support organizations that promote archery and its traditions of artistry, conservationism, community and family. To this end, G5 has supported many national organizations such as the National Archery Schools Program (NASP), Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, N***, QDMA, ATA and thousands of local archery retailers, clubs, associations and community hunting organizations, which have sought to promote our way of life.

As passionate hunters, every one of us needs to do our part in securing the future of hunting. We at G5 feel there are many positive actions being taken by various groups in the hunting community to educate and promote hunting, yet more needs to be done to further our cause. If not and if we stay static, our hunting tradition will slip away.

We appreciate and value all your questions, comments and concerns about the WHA. We hope that you will continue this dialogue with us so that we may continue as a community to seek the best methods to promote hunting not only within the archery community, but also to those who do not currently share our passion.

Regards,

The G5 Outdoors Team

Crazy crazy.gif They must have their heads in the sand, not to be able to see that this is not going to help the heritage of hunting. Supporting this is not the same as supporting the National Archery Schools Program (NASP), Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, N***, QDMA, ATA and thousands of local archery retailers, clubs, associations and community hunting organizations.

Maybe G5 Outdoors needs a forum so they can hear what the hunters have to say about this.

I love my Montecs ...but

Re: world hunt competition

Yeah, I watched the short video. I like competition, but not this type. If this is taking place in Michigan, someone ought to inform the biggest "Michganlander" Ted Nugent himself. I don't think he'd support this in his home state.

Re: world hunt competition

What is Realtree official stance on this? I haven't seen a list of so called competitors, but I hope no one from that is associated with RT is doing this. I know that Mathews has said they have no involvement with it, but one of their factory pro shooters Brett Hankins is one of the competitors. he has gotten called out on it in the forums, and will not answer any questions except to say he is doing it for the $$$. That, in my opinion is sad. I can't believe how easy some people will sell out on their values, or how low their values are to begin with.

Here is a link to the thread on the Mathews Fourm...

Re: world hunt competition

John if you hear that someone is doing it from RT please tell. I dont like seeing any pro staff member or mathews factory pro staffer doing this. I dont see how anyone could support it. And if it is for the money what does he see in hunting then?

Re: world hunt competition

folks I totally disagree with the whole thing big time also!!The only problem I am having is everyone calling it hunting, it is not its a compitition,The guys in are not "hunting" for money they are shootign live animals with darts to get a pics taken with them! People hunt for money all the time, I hunt coyotes to make money, there are tons of people who enter big buck compittions for money, there are tons[not me unfortuatly lol]who make vidios of hunting for money!

What I am getting from everyone is the problem they are having with this is the money thing, I do not agree, what I have a problem with is the stress on the animal, sure dartign has to be done for surveys and tracking ect but not for fun, I do not agree with it in this situation, hunters kill animals and do not waste them, these guys are not huntign when they shoot with darts they are in a compition, they also are changing the animals habits and instincts, they are not meant to be darted, this is the only place were I have a problem with it,I have no problem with the money, if you can make a few bucks doing what you love to feed your family go for it,I do not see what they are doing is any different than any big buck comp,or making any vidio, only thing is they are hurting a animal instead of a fast humane kill![which I totally dissagree with!]Just my opinion of course!!

BTW these all have to be done in a fenced area with animals the landowner owns, couse I know up here in Sask anyways you would instantly be charged with cruelty to animals and is diturbign wildlife, I know a kid was charged up here with 4 charges after shootign a deer with a paintball, you cannot bug wildlife!

Another problem I am startign to have is non hunters are going to see this as actuall huntign and will put a hurt on the real hunters out there who do not shoot dart guns for fun!

Here is the eamil I just sent to G5. I will send a similar email to any company that sponsors this in any way. Every other member here that feels this is wrong should do the same.

G5;

Is it true that you are actually aligning yourself with the WHA, as a sponsor in this bogus , so called hunting competition? I'm sure by now you have received a ton of negative email concerning this. Do you as a company realize the negative light this shines on you from the true, ethical hunters of the world? The same hunters that have made you a household name in the archery world! If you have indeed decided to sponsor this travesty, I for one can absolutely guarantee you that your company, along with any other company that sponsored the WHA will never see a single penny of my hard earned money. And, I will be sure to make my feelings known on all of the internet forums I am a member of, and to all of my many hunting family and friends!

I hope that G5 will realize how many customers you will be alienating, and reconsider their sponsorship of this bogus so called competition.

Re: world hunt competition

Does anyone know of a senetor in the house or up in that area that is a hunter and has the same views as us and would listen if we wrote to them. That would not take it out of consideration and make it nearly impossible to get a law passed against it? Just think of ideas.
