Jeramie
This is a "what brand and why" post. Ive got a cheap climber ive used for years and its time to upgrade to something under 100lbs I really hate the cable and D pin stands. Thats what I have right now and trying to set that up early in the mornings, being quiet, etc. is next to impossible. I like the cable system on the Summit where you just slip it in the groove. Anyway, im looking to throw out about 200 bones mainly for Archery season but will probably be used for ML too..... Whatcha got.....
johnf
Re: What is the best Climber? I've got a Summit Mini Viper that hasn't seen a tree yet and an old Warre&Sweat that I've used for 5 years. The old one is light but is noisy and not super comfortable. If you want to go light I would consider the Summit Bushmaster. Or if you want a little more weight and a lot more comfort you might want the Viper.
wtnhunt
Re: What is the best Climber? Dont know about which one is "the best", but so far I have been pretty happy with my summit python I bought from cabelas last summer. Cost me right around $200 if I remember right, and I like that the bar can be used up for rifle hunting or down for a footrest during archery. Got an old climber that I very rarely used, forget who made it, but it got to where I just couldnt sit in that thing. The summit is very comfortable. hutchies
Re: What is the best Climber? Summit Viper................without a doubt. Kevin and Dale told me that if I bought a Wal Mart climber I would end up buying a Summit so I shelled out for the summit. I guaruntee the most comfortable stand I have and easy to setup. Chrud
Re: What is the best Climber? Lone Wolf. The platform is unlike any other. It is a solid piece of cast aluminum. There is absolutely no sound to it. Any, and I mean any, stand with welds or hollow tubes will make noise, especially when temperatures get cooler. The stand folds completely flat very fast and quietly. With the Summit folder you have to undo a bolt or two to fold it. The LW's climb very easy and quietly. Most good stands on the market do, so it isn't a huge advantage. Lastly, the Lone Wolf's are MUCH lighter than other stands. The hand climber only weighs 14.5 pounds. Our Summit Viper XLS is over 19 pounds. That makes a HUGE difference. Lone Wolf Treestands
Tominator
Re: What is the best Climber? I have an API and a Summit, both have their advantages, but overall, I'd go with the Summit. I would like to try a Lone Wolf some day.

I wont sit in nothing else but a wolf and I honestly own a stand from just about every maker in the industry. I have finally found my perfect stand. If your any kind of serious bowhunter the Lone Wolf is the way to go. I can tote mine for miles and never know it's there, walk through the brush without it snagging and banging around on trees, set it up on a tree in total darkness, climb and set up without making a sound. It's a wonderful piece of equipment.

hutchies
Re: What is the best Climber? I will be hunting out of my Summit for many years to come. Might have to replace a seat, cable, or straps but I think the frame is awesome.
snapper
Re: What is the best Climber? I haven't found a climbing stand that locks onto the tree better than my old Loggy! There are some out there that are lighter, quieter to climb with and even some that are easier to use...but nothing locks onto the tree like it. I feel very very safe sitting in a Loggy once its locked onto the tree...like standing on concrete. With that said...if I ever get another climber...prob. go with a Summit. wtnhunt
Re: What is the best Climber? So long as you are looking in the $200 price range that kind of rules out a lone wolf, unless you can find a really great deal on one somewhere. Cheapest lone wolf climber I have seen was over $300. AJ
Re: What is the best Climber? It depends on the use. For archery, I prefer my Loggy Bayou. Like Snapper said, there are no stands that are as secure. For gun hunting, I like the Summit stand. Its more comfortable than the Loggy, but the wrap around bar means you have to stand up to shoot. That cost me a deer the last time I archery hunted. Never again. Its not as solid as the Loggy climber and it is heavier. It is a little quieter going up though. I have two Loggy climbers and one Summit Goliath. This info is first hand.

Hoyt03
Re: What is the best Climber? I use a loggy lite climber and as the others state I fell very secure in it once strapped in. It's a 3 year old modle so it makes a little more noise then I'd like. The newer models are more like the summits though. If I were going to buy a new stand I would probaly get one of summits that pack flat, or something that has a rest for gun shooting.

[/ QUOTE ] I have the Vipers brother, the Goliath X5. I wanted the larger top section, plus the extra 350 pound weight just makes me feel more secure. There are no moving parts to make any NOISE! The seat is so comfortable, I will admit I dosed in it a few times, but was wearing my harness! I would recommend buying the deluxe backpack straps! wtnhunt
Re: What is the best Climber? Might watch cabelas for specials jeramie. Occasionally they clearance the last model years stands when the new ones hit the catalogs. Nothing wrong with them, just a date of manufacture that is one year older.
