too_pointer
A friend has an Omega, he would like to use the 777 pellets in it. He isn't happy with the grouping using powerbelt bullets. He told me it is around a 3" group at 50 yards. I believe he is using 2 50 grn. pellets right now, any advice ?? I don't think he has tried any other bullet in it besides p.b. That combo is great in my encore, but seems like it is lacking some in his Omega. too_pointer
tedicast
Re: Omega shooters My brothers Encore prefered the 348 grain powerbelts, with 100 grain of 777 pellets, over the 295's. If he is set with sticking with the PB's, tell him to give the 348's a try.
Guest DaHunter
Re: Omega shooters I just bought a omega a few months ago, i picked it out of the box put 3 50 grain pyrodex pellets in it along with a 348 grain powerbelt and its very deadly. My groups are great out too 75 yards open sighted, i havent shot it any farther yet. But its dead on from 0-75 yards, he should try this i think its a very good combo and the kick isnt all that bad. Guest ronin
Re: Omega shooters I agree, have him try Shockwaves or the Hornady SST's, same bullet, with the loading stems. The Omega seems to be built for this bullet. It's tough to load but it is very accurate.
Guest deldeer
Re: Omega shooters i thought i read one time that the omega was designed to shoot bullets over 300gr. for best accuracy....i don't know if there is any truth to it. i shoot 245gr. xtp's over 2- 777 pellets for now but after the season im going to switch to p.r.'s. too_pointer
Re: Omega shooters [quote Blaming a bullet cause it won't shoot "exactly' 100 grains efficiently in exactly one type bullet and one-type grain size bullet is kind of silly. [/ QUOTE ] Thanks Triple 777, as usual you don't read the question. I said he would like to use the 777 pellets, and I believed he was shooting 100 grns of them. I never said he wouldn't adjust his powder load. Thanks everyone else here , I will pass on your advise too_pointer
tped
Re: Omega shooters I just purchased the stainless omega w/thumbhole stock. I shot it the first time on thanksgiving morning. After sighting in, I wanted to see if it would shoot the same load as my Encore. I was amazed that it did and equally as well. The load was 120 grains 777 with 250 Barnes -- 3 shot cloverleaf at 3/4" at 100 yards -- Doesn't get much better than that.
