johnf
I'm thinking about getting a stainless ML barrel for my H&R Ultra Rifle. A 24" stainless cost $90 and a 26" barrel is $110. Is the 2" going to make enough difference in performance to warrent the extra $20. I know that's not that much more, but I know it's going to add a little extra weight and probibly more velosity. I is the 2" going to be enough to make a real difference ?
Guest littlered
Re: Barrel Lenght from my experience with the longer barrel you can shoot more powder without blowing unburnt powder out the end. but to do that you would have to be shooting quite a bit of powder. i've also noticed a little diffrence in accuracy, with the longer barrel getting better groups. if i were you i would go with the longer barrel for velosity and accuracy. let me know what you end up deciding to buy and how it shoots. too_pointer
Re: Barrel Lenght Since you have a choice, go with the 28" . You will be better off in the long run. too_
AJ
Re: Barrel Lenght Longer barrels do not make guns more accurate. They do allow them to shoot higher velocities though. I would go for the longer barrel.
wtnhunt
Re: Barrel Lenght The longer barrel would be nice so long as you are not hunting in real tight conditions. Got one treestand, I could not imagine trying to follow a deer with a 28 inch barrel from.
Guest tcprohunter
Re: Barrel Lenght Some of the guns overall length is still shorter because there is no action. My TC with a 28" barrel is still shorter than my Savage with a 24" barrel.
