Wolf or coyote?

Re: Wolf or coyote?

Without getting into a huge discussion about coydogs, let's just keep it simple with coyote or wolf?

Just giving the possiblity Joe, what is wrong with a discussion confused.gif.

One thing I am pretty sure from that pic is that is not a pure bred yote, they do not get that heavy. Without a better pic of the head and nose, really it is hard to say for sure what is pictured here. According to one of the wardens around here coydogs can be more common than you might think, and they can get some pretty good size on them. As most in here probably know there is a danger associated with coydogs in that where coyotes often fear man, the coydogs most often have no fear of man.

Not two many wolfs in the US it there?

Anyone else from northern Wisconsin want to take this one? shocked.gif

Wolves are becoming quite a problem here (but that's another story).

For an interesting comparison check out this post I made on another site:

wtnhunt, the reason I said that is because I have seen on other boards someone mention coydog and it turns into a huge debate as to if they even exist and fuhgetaboudit.

OK Joe. That pic probably is a wolf. Not trying to hijack this thread, but I am pretty sure coydogs do exist, really dont know why they wouldnt. I am pretty certain I have seen a few around here. The wife and I also have seen what we were pretty sure after looking up was a red wolf on our property on a couple of occasions, were even more convinced after going to the exhibit of red wolves at the knoxville zoo. The twra claimed it had to have been a coydog.

I think that might be my dog! grin.gif

Kidding of course...not really sure but I would go with wolf.

[/ QUOTE ]

Yeah looks almost exactly like my dog too! I would have to say wolf just because the coyotes we have around here are tiny probably smaller than half the size of the animal in that picture.
