Food Plot brown and mowed pics

Recommended Posts

Got a few minutes today to go and mow the food plot. I sprayed it a few weeks ago with round-up.

Gonna let it set a few weeks to see what grows back and then spray that before tilling...

The area behind the stand...

Luke may recognize this spot... An old ground blind was under that pine tree...

Spot directly under and in front of stand.

I am planting Hamme Farms Trefoil/Clover mix.

Should I till then spray? confused.gif

Well, Todd is the expert on the timing of the trefoil, but typically you till, wait 2 weeks or so (with a good rain) to let any new weed seed germinate, then spray that off, then plant a day or two after that. If you till then plant, all kinds of weed seed will come up with your trefoil.

Wow !! that spot cleaned up nicely Shawn... cool.gifsmile.gifsmile.gif and should be an ideal plot spot... wink.gif

I also agree with Chris,,, tilling under that brown will only germinate a whole new growth spurt..... I would till it under and see what pops up for new growth and then tackle those again with another spraying.. wink.gif

Re: Food Plot brown and mowed pics

you will be surprised how many dormant seeds are just waiting there to germinate. I would recommend tilling it up then repacking the soil. Wait for a rain--then respray anything green 2 weeks after the rain. Wait at least a week then till and plant. You still might not be weed free but you should sure be close.

best of luck
