Golfers

I played a round of golf with a buddy of mine a few weeks ago. On one hole, he hit his drive a little to the left and it ended up behind a tree, sitting on top of a root. It was a pretty bad lie for a not-so-bad drive off the tee. He had about 200 or so yards to the flag. I have attached a picture with the ball and flag circled. How would you play this shot?

Punch it over in the fairway and go from there?

Try to hit a draw?

He tried the latter and ended up in the fairway about 75 yards out. He didn't hit it too good, sitting on the root and all. Plus he got a piece of the little bush. tongue.gif

Re: Golfers

Well since I am left handed, I would try to hit a fade if I was going to hit it. However, I had a very similar shot back when I was younger, I have learned that trying to be a hero is for those who wear capes, I almost broke my wrist because I hit the root. Now I would take a stroke, declare it unplayable and move the ball.

Re: Golfers

I had this same set up last week. i grabbed my 3 iron and got all lined up and ready. I placed the ball on my back right foot. I came back slowly and puched the ball and followed through out over 120 or so yards. Perfect placement for the sit i had.

Re: Golfers

well unless Steve Williams was on the bag suggesting ideas on what club to use, I'd punch it back into the fairway and try to make par if possible. A shot like that can lead to other problems. Sometimes its hard not to pull off a Tiger Woods shot but sometimes you have to be humble and take what you can get and move onto the next hole!
