**Scored on a blacktail buck**

Well, after seeing that nice big buck out at Chester's this morning, I was a bit disappointed, but went down to Don's farm tonight to see how things were going.

I sprayed a liberal amount of Mr. Wiggly's doe-in-estrus out in front of the grass blind and also left a good trail for 100 yrds across the field to the stream where they cross.

About 1 hour before dark I started seeing deer. First a doe and 2 fawns, then a small buck, then a nubber came across to me, stood beside me for a bit and went back across the field. Then about 1/2 hour before last light (good shooting light) deer started coming across the steam like crazy. I could see 2 more deer working there way toward me from another angle across the field also. I could see a couple bucks working the does, but this guy kept stopping and smelling Wig's pee. He started following it across the field and then got side tracked with another doe. He chased her across a bit more then ran into my scent trail again and started checking it out going back and forth. I decided to pull out the call and give a few doe bleats....that did it, up comes his head and across he comes, right down the trail to me.

A doe was ahead of him coming in from a different angle and the doe got to me first at about 15 yrds. The buck was coming closer, but kept stopping to soak up the nice scent I laid down. He was coming straight in to me and at around 15 yrds, so I lifted my bow to draw. The doe caught my movement, since she was a bit more to my left. She didn't really spook, but started walking briskly toward the bush-line. When she turned to walk away, I drew my bow, he turned and stepped out to follow her and came into view in one of my shooting windows at 20 yrds. She stopped and so did he, nice slightly quartering (not much) broadside shot. The arrow made a great rib-wack sound and he took off down the field. He started slowing down at around 50 yrds, staggered and dropped. He was down for the count.

I love those no-need-to-track-deer

I called my buddy 3legs and he came down with his 4x4 so I didn't have to drag him all the way up to the farm. What a life-saver that was. Thanks Ken.

I watched a whole wack of deer in the field for about 15 minutes and decided to go dress him out. He was all ready to go by the time Ken got there.

He's not huge...could have used another year on him, but I'm happy and he'll be a good eater for sure.

You should try a scent trail with some of that stuff I gave you a couple years back! LOL

LOL..yeah bill, the only problem with that stuff is that it's about 150 yrds from where the deer cross the stream (where I start the scent trail) to my blind. By the time they get half way to my blind smelling that stuff, they'd forget why they were crossing the field and drop before they got within range....LMBO grin.gif

Hey..that actually sounds pretty good...could you send me some more ..eh grin.gif

Thanks guys..He's no monster, but good body size. wink.gif
