My wife and her friend went in halves on one of those walmart pools that is 15'X48". I just needed them to support the dirt I have to level. I have another Idea thought that we are gonna make work. hutchies
Re: Price of Lumber these days.................Geez. More like retaining walls to keep this dirt in place when it rains. Screed Board maybe the samething just never heard of it. Isn't a screed board what you use to level concrete.

billkay
Re: Price of Lumber these days.................Geez. I'd come up with a plan "B". Maybe landscape timbers. Are the 2x12's treated?
stevebeilgard
Re: Price of Lumber these days.................Geez. now you know why housing is so high. i use about 25,000 in lumber each month, and am keenly aware of the high prices.... coupled with poor quality wood. AdvantageTimberLou
Re: Price of Lumber these days.................Geez. Gotta remember how that lumber gets to the lumberyard, my dad owns a trucking company, at $3.00 a gallon for diesel, most items that get to a store will see price increases. Those trucks with 100 to 150 gallons on each side are pretty pricey to fill and with the mileage trucks get fuel costs are driving up the costs of stuff we all buy! Farmers are in the same bind, fuel costs are hurting them and will hurt us!!
Jeramie
Re: Price of Lumber these days.................Geez. Fuel cost are hurting everything! I see prices of everything going up and there isnt a thing we can do about it. The sad part is the cost of living is increasing but no one is making any more money. I seriously have no idea how some of theses people are making it.....
wtnhunt
Re: Price of Lumber these days.................Geez. That is a bit higher than what I saw in lowes here the other day. Lumber prices are pretty ridiculous, probably wont see them coming down anytime real soon either. For what you are doing, would go with landscape timbers. Think they are around 2.97 for the 3X5 8 feet long.
David_218
Re: Price of Lumber these days.................Geez. I don't see how anyone can afford to build a home these days! It's only going to get more expensive, as we are in a global market with China & India buying up all the supplies (thanks to NAFTA & GATT!) They make a little plastic thing that you can bend and nail to the ground that's got to be cheaper than that board. Maybe check into that? We send the fuel company we use around 12-15 thousand a week. Shipping is not the factor here though Lou, the Weyerhauser plant is less than 75 miles away. horst
Re: Price of Lumber these days.................Geez. Building things has been way down here this summer.I been doing a lot of work for the city and insurance companies just because a lot of the regular folks cant afford to do anything.Shingles are running close to 50$ a square now and steels running over 80$ a square on top of the cost of lumber.Insert windows that i was buying a couple years ago for 100$ apiece are over 350$ a piece and walkdoors have taken a big jump in price as well.Things dont change pretty soon Im gonna be getting a second job
