surreybigbuckhunter
I fish on lake chesdin, and really early in the morning when the sun is coming up, we see big schools of shad jumping. Every now and then we will see stripers or hybrids jumping. i was just wondering what we should use to catch them. Every now and then we can catch the shad in our castnets. we can also catch diff. species of bream. i was just wondering what bait we should use and what kind of rig to use. billkay
Re: need some help with baits for striper hybrids Check the Indiana DNR website. They recently had information on the fish, their movements, and best lures/techniques. If I find the e-mail they sent me, I'll post it here. ultratec1
Re: need some help with baits for striper hybrids I have taken 3 trips for stripers in the last 3 years and we have always used either bucktails or top water plugs thrown right in the middle of the surfacing fish. If you use the bucktails you have to throw them just beyond the fish and reel like all get out!!! You'll know when you have one. A 5 lb feels like a 10 lb bass. There is no other fish in my opinion that fights harder then a striper. By far my favorite fish to catch.

Hoyt03
Re: need some help with baits for striper hybrids Thats any easy one. Throw some jerk baits that most resemble the shad and size of shad in your lake. Alot of times when those hybrids bust shad like that, the real thing is the only thing they will hit. Try to get ya a bucket full, then when you find them busting like that use live bait.
