Strut10
......and I ain't allowed to shoot it. This gun's been at my smith's since the middle of last October. It's a Browning A-Bolt Stainless Stalker that started out as a .375 H&H. I had it rechambered to .375 Wby. (an approximate 10 gr. extra powder capacity and 150-200 additional fps) with a custom Manson throat. Also had the trigger set at 2 1/2 lbs., barrel free-floated, Leupold bases and dual-dovetail rings drilled out to 8/32 screws, Accra-Glassed and lapped. Also had mounted a Weaver V10 2x10 scope. It's got a Limbsaver pad on the back. A buddy of mine took 3 offhand shots out of it a couple nights ago. The load was a 260 gr. AccuBond at approximately 3000 fps. He was shooting at a rock (about 1 foot square) at around 280 -290 yards. Missed it by inches on the first two shots and creamed it on the third!! This rifle's not even been sighted in yet.....just boresighted. I cannot wait to be able to get this thing to the bench!!!!!!!
snapper
Re: Project came home....at long last....... Looks good...may want to slide that scope forward a tad...lol! [/ QUOTE ] Made sure it was plenty far up. Any more and the higher end of the magnification will be getting rough to use. It's just about perfect where it's at. [ QUOTE ] Got something new to take for a walk during bear season now? LMBO [/ QUOTE ] Yup. And, believe it or not, it's a bit lighter than the Ruger .300 Mag. So I'll be able to walk (or crawl) farther and hunt longer.

A bit heavy though. LOL Good Luck with it. Sounds like you dont really need the luck factor at all...

iron buck
Re: Project came home....at long last....... Don, I was wondering if you would get this gun back before my Whelen came LOL Looks nice. When you are up to shooting it maybe we can organize anotherr gathering. I wouldn't mind seeing how it feels compared to my 375HH A-Bolt. Think they'd work on Indiana Co. Black bears? Or is CRF an absolute must have LOL

Just don't tell the boys over at AR that I intend to hunt "slightly dangerous game" with a PF rifle.........especially anywhere near a fingernail-sized chunk of mud. I gotta believe there are still a couple spitting gravel though.... Maybe next time there won't be so many witnesses left.... I may have to put a medium bore together so I won't be so under gunned on my next trip east. hangunnr

[/ QUOTE ] Hey.........SOMTIMES those chucks charge and you have to be able to stop them LOL I have killed groundhogs with my 375 HH before. As well as with my 300 win mag , 338 win mag & 7mag. IMHO there is no better practice with a hunting rifle than sniping groundhogs.
