And so did the Soviet Union. They're now firmly entrenched in the ash heap of history.

I do think that you're right when you say that the oldline leadership of Communist China is still hostile to the U.S., but there are events unfolding in China that may be beyond their control. Namely a growing middle class and a booming capitalist economy. Communism requires a large peasant (basically slave) class to survive, while capitalism requires a strong middle class. We're seeing that shift happening in China today. And where capitalism goes, freedom inevitably follows.

There's some wisdom in what you say, TTID. But, I still wouldn't turn my back on the Chinese and they ain't gonna do squat about NK.
