FSU_Seminole
I just wanted to share some info with you guys, some of you may already know this & its been posted before if so sorry. This weekend I spent some time at the Bass Pro Shop in Myrtle Beach. They told me that they along with Cabelas have discontinued selling Buck Forage Oats. Both stores had a disagreement with the BF vendor so if you love Buck Forage Oats like I do then you won't be able to find it either store. That really sucks because its a great product. The reason it was dropped is because Bass Pro & Cabelas won't carry your seed unless you have a wide selection of seed varieties & minerals to sell them. I guess its not worth their time to buy only 1 or 2 brands of seeds. Go figure. Second, for those of you that have PH problems. Evolved Habitats has a new liquid lime solution for 15$ a gallon that you can mix with 8 gallons of water to boost your PH to about 7.0 .5 acre. They claim it will work in about a week if your soil PH is anywhere above or near 6. If its below 6 they claim 2 applications will work. I guess this is a new product because its not even on their official website yet & I haven't found any info about it online anywhere. Lastly I know alot of us have mineral licks out. I just checked mine Sunday, hadn't checked it for about 5 weeks. I was shocked at the huge depression the deer have made. I've been using the "trophy rock". I placed 2 of them in my lick rougly well over a month ago & both have been pawed, and licked down. Its the best thing I've ever used in a mineral lick. I'll take some photos this coming weekend. wtnhunt
Re: A Little Plot & Mineral Info Just put out a trophy rock in our mineral site here yesterday, have had really good results from them. Think cabelas might have their own brand of the same thing as bfo if I am not mistaken. I know they sell several blends as a cabelas brand. I had used a biologic fertilizer a few years ago, that I had picked up at wal mart. It was priced right, and claims on the packaging were that it was a ph balanced fertilizer, suggesting you could use this without liming. I used that when initially planting our pennington clover/rye plot. the plot did great. We saw more deer in that 1/4 acre plot that fall than we have ever seen in our field before. wtnhunt
Re: A Little Plot & Mineral Info My mineral site sees a lot of activity normally with whatever I use in it, but there was a noticeable difference when using the trophy rocks. The deer also continued on hitting the site on into the ml season here in November.
