Guest whitetailarcher
I have just started attempting to train my 8 month old lab to find sheds. I started by using my own sheds inside. He got this down in a couple quick sessions. When I try to go outside there are many more distractions including sounds and smells. Any tips in general about dog training would be great. dogdoc
Re: Dog Training build up his confidence--remember he's just an 8 month old puppy. Set him up for success and really reward the success. Take a few of your sheds and go hide them on your property---make a few really obvious where he can use his sight and nose--but also hide a few under leaves where he has to use his nose to find them. When he finds them really give him some praise and maybe a little treat. Heck--I have a 1 1/2 year old lab that I use for retrieving competitions and she still gets easily distracted. good luck todd
