Newarcher
Re: BIGTIME Ticked at SEARS Sears has two problems. First, they cannot and will not abandon their catalog mentality. They will often look at you strange because you bawk when you go in to buy a mower or something and they tell you it will take three weeks to get it in. Then when it comes in, they take their sweet time calling you to let you know it is ready. If they happen to exceed the promised delivery date, they sign openly on the phone when you call to ask them where it is. I got someone who told me "We told you we would call you when it came in". That was close to a week after it was supposed to be ready for pickup. Second, they hire some of the least responsible and most apathetic people I have ever seen to be the interface to the client. I have seen a couple of them get attitude with me and another customer because we interrupted their social time with all their buddies that were standing around. I complained once to the manager because I said "excuse me, can I get some help in the sporting goods section" to a worker in that department who was rapping with some of his friends on company time. He looked really annoyed and rolled his eyes at me. The manager was apparently of the same stock as the punk because she looked surprised that I would even mention it to her. Apathetic and PATHETIC. No more business for Sears for me. Lowes and Home Depot have tools which are just as good and carry a lifetime warranty better than Sears. Occasionally, I have a bad experience in a store somewhere and will hold a temporary grudge. Sears has taken it to the next level with the absolute hate level. And the funny thing is....I can't get anyone other than OLD loyal customers from the catalog days (who hold some sort of nostalgic feelings for Sears) to admit to a positive experience. It seems that they go out of their way with their stupid policies and procedures to make what should be a very simple purchase difficult and then can't understand why I get upset. Hate the Sears....Hate them New
Leo
Re: BIGTIME Ticked at SEARS No doubt the MAC Tools and SNAP-ONS are the best. Expensive but the best. Truly these are the least likely tools to break. Personally, I'm a notorious tool buster. Over the years I've popped just about every hand tool imaginable And yes I've broken craftsman before. Lifetime guarantee doesn't mean unbreakable. And the harsh truth is the guarantee is only good for the lifetime of the warranty. If the company decides to change their policy before you break the tool, you're outa luck and there is nothing you can do about it. Honestly, the lifetime guarantee is little comfort when you bust a tool in the middle of a job and then wonder if you're gonna bust the replacement before you finish. Been there, done that My accessment of the Craftsman tools is the warranty is more impressive than the tools. IMO, Better midrange tools are made by Ampro (Advance Auto) and Husky (Home Depot)
arrow32
Re: BIGTIME Ticked at SEARS Thats about stupid. All there tools have the lifetime warranty. They dont want to lose the money if you had to bet.
Gator
Re: BIGTIME Ticked at SEARS Interesting. Here is an update on this situation. It is just NOT a SEARS policy, it is a CRAFTSMAN policy. I just called a craftsman vendor that we deal with DAILY for different stuff. The guy there told me the same thing. Torque Wrenches, power tools and the like are only warrantied for ONE YEAR. I would have to have a receipt to warranty out an item such as a wrench. Sorry Luke, I thought I could do it, but looks like I can't.........
