LeafWiper
Hey guys. I'm new to the sport of bass fishing and I need some advice. My biggest question is when chosing lure size. When buying crankbaits, slashbaits, and topwaters is it better to get a bigger or smaller size? Also what color patterns seem to work for you? Any input appreciated! Texan_Til_I_Die
Re: Lure Size Typicaly you'll want to match the size to the baitfish the bass are eating. I have all sizes. Likewise with color. Right now, it's mostly a shad pattern, spring it's perch and winter is crawfish/red.
DU_man_84
Re: Lure Size yeah your just gonna need a variety of lure sizes, like in the cold months colder water your gonna wanna down size gonna be looking for smaller baits, when the water starts to warm up start thinking bigger, and like texan said gonna wanna match colors of food source in the water if ya can and the size of the baitfish that the fish are feeding on, but sometimes i can be fishing for bass with a 3/8 oz jig and cant get em, then i switch to a bitsy bug which is like 1/4 oz jig and theyll hammer it, sometimes its also what the fish prefer, thats why it takes many years to load up the tackle boxes with everything from all different size lures to every different color of lures

Guest lovinbowhuntin247365
Re: Lure Size all right ... size does matter, but like everyone else said, try to match the size of your lure to the fish theyre feeding on. color, on the other hand, is something you need to pay attention to constantly. buy all different colors, and match your color to the time of day and light conditions. if youve got a realyl bright day, then toss on an extremely reflective bait, or something with a lot of vibrant color. if the day is dull, try something that has a matte (dull) finish, or something with a darker color. if youre doing night fishing, the rules change. when night fishing, keep to extremely reflective baits, or dark colors. this is what works best for me when bass fishin. good luck, and good fishin!!! Tominator
Re: Lure Size Depends on the lure and water color. Where I fish we have clear water so blues, yellows, whites and sometimes fusias work really well. Depends on the fish you're going for too.
