All I got to say is sheessshhh. smirk.gif Got the next 6 months insurance quote from Geico and its gonna cost $600 + to insure my S-10. That was kind of a slap to the face, I was expecting closer to $400. So now this throws another loop in the game of life. So now I'm wondering if I should just buy a car, VW Jettas are looking pretty nice. Right now I NEED the truck for work but come fall it's just a nice vehicle to have. I guess the point of the post was just to vent...

Anyone got any extra cash laying around they could throw this way? grin.gif

Re: Car Insurance

That's it?! blush.gif

Heck I just got a quote for a 2004 Silverado 4x4 Reg cab, short box and it would be $4,700 per year! shocked.gif When I got quoted for what I drive now last year, 2003 Cavalier 2 door 5-spd, it would have been $9,600/year in my name. I'm 19 years old with an absolute clean record, not even a speeding ticket! crazy.gif

So I got the Cavalier and got it under my Dad's name with me as a secondary driver, it's still $2,200 per year. smirk.gif

Re: Car Insurance

Good lands.... How do you peopl aford to drive?!?!?!?! shocked.gif

Seriously, I pay around $170 a month for a 2004 Nissan Quest, a 2001 F150 Extended Cab, and a 2001 Kia Optima! Thats full coverage with all the bells and whistles....

I even pay a medical rider. I was rearended a couple of years ago. My insurace company cut me a check for 100% of the medical bills because of the rider. The other guys insurance also payed so I got to pocket the cost of the Medical bills.

Re: Car Insurance

Yes guys if you are young , you are put into a high risk pool just because of your age and experience.

I live in NY, 40 miles north of Ground Zero. Everything here is ultra expensive, I have 3 vehicles, a 95 1500 Silverado,99 Chevy Venture, and a 01 Saturn SL2 (ready fro the scrap heap). My insurance on all 3 is $960 every 6 months, full coverage on the wifes van too. Thats cheap auto insurance in my book for the NY area.

Rates depend mostly on age(25 and over) and exp, being married has alot to do with low rates also. But I don't suggest getting married to get low rates grin.gif

Re: Car Insurance

Insurance is a sham and should be shut down by the federal government! I know, I used to work there.

Tell me any other business where you can charge an exorbetent price for your service....punishing the customer for not only their own driving record but also for the model car they drive and where they live (other words the collective experience of that car and the drivers in that person's area). But it gets better. Not only that, you can punish people who price shop by raising their premiums if they move around a lot or even deny them coverage all together. Even better, your denial of coverage will make it all that much worse for them when trying to get coverage from another company--effectively almost eliminating anyone leaving your clientel. If the client actually submits a claim on the policy that you are covering, you are allowed to increase their rates--in an almost unregulated fashion--to recoup the costs that you had to pay for the accident. Lastly, once your costs are recouped for the accident, you don't have to reduce the premiums back to what they were before the accident! And all of this is going on under the watchful eye of the State Governments which mandate that each person MUST carry insurance in order to drive!

Oh, and regarding the Volkswagon automobiles....I was reading an article on automobile dependability and they said, "the volkswagon automobiles had more problems than all of the other vehicles combined". I would think twice about buying one and research it well if you do. You are in for some problems, it seems.

Re: Car Insurance

I would try Allstate. Here in NY our insurance premium's are typically very high. I currently have the highest level of insurance you can have on 3 vehicles (06 Honda Pilot, 04 GMC Sierra, & 02 Nissan Altima) and pay approximately $850 every 6 months.

Re: Car Insurance

Wow, looking back over the replies in here, some of you guys are paying pretty outrageous premiums. Our policy, full coverage through AIG, on my 3/4 ton hd ext cab truck and on the yukon both 4wd with a $100 ded runs me about $860 a year for me and my wife on both vehicles.
