Re: how many acres?

you guys with lots of land to hunt make me jealous!

i used to have access to 300 acres and in was great.

the last few years i was hunting on a small 12 acre plot where i could see houses, got a new plot to hunt on thats 27 acres but mostly fields, only about 10 of woods, and a 17 acre plot down the road from that but that one butts up to 100+ acres with corn! today i doc at the hospital i work at gave me the go ahead to hunt his 67 acres that is surrounded by a logging company that owns 3000 acres, imagine the monsters sleeping on that!

Re: how many acres?

My Dad has 80 and my uncle has 240. There's some paper company land mixed in there that has 200 more acres we're able to use.

I look forward to paying taxes on all the 320 acres someday. wink.gif

Re: how many acres?

Here in my home state about 3,000 acres that I have access to hunt in our hunting club. I also hunt with some friends as their guest at their hunting clubs occasionally that adds up to another 5,000 acres or so. For out of state hunting it depends on if I draw a tag or not. In all those other states combined, it adds up to another 5,000 acres or so that are not controlled by an outfitter. I also have a deal with an outfitter where I can go hunting just about any time that I can make time that includes another 50,000 acres spread across 4 states that I have access to this fall.

I am fortunate to work for a large sand & gravel company that owns over 3000 acres. Very fortunate to be one of a handful of guys that have permission to hunt it. There are a few parcels that I am the only one to hunt it.

Spend the rut hunting with outfitters throughout the midwest so that is countless! But grew up hunting my grandparents little 10 acre woodlot and shot many nice bucks out of the same tree. Its not the amount of acres as it is the habitat. That little 10 acres had everything a deer needed and it was a honey hole!

Re: how many acres?

For years I hunted 146 acres of family land that I didn't control. It usually worked out well, but sometimes I'd run into other hunters who got permission from some of the other family members. Then 2.5 years ago I bought 280 acres of my own! It sure is nice to be able to control who and what goes on! Now from Aug 15 til Jan 1 I have my own little slice of heaven to hunt whitetail on!
