VTbowman
Which do you use and why. I have always used the solid black flip open caps since thats all they had when I had bought them. I recently bought 3 sets of the Blizzard see-threw style but have never seen them up close or in hand. Is the quality the same? Thanks for the input. LifeNRA
Re: Bulter Creeks- Blizzard or Solid caps? Never used the Blizzards, but I always liked the Butler solid black ones. If they get scratched doesnt do any good anyways. Dont think Ill be changing either!
GWSmith
Re: Bulter Creeks- Blizzard or Solid caps? I put the Blizzard caps on my Nikon Prostaff last year. Simply because they were cheaper and they were what Gander Mountain had for sale at the time when I got the 270. It took a little getting used to without that red release tab on the rear cap that the Butler Creeks had...but other than that they performed well-no complaints. RangerClay
Re: Bulter Creeks- Blizzard or Solid caps? I have always used the see-through (15 years). They are handy on rainy days. Ranger
VTbowman
Re: Bulter Creeks- Blizzard or Solid caps? No little red tab?!?!? Man thats is gonna suck. LOL I think anything on there is better then nothing at all and having them a mounted flip open is a benifit of not loosing them in your pack or falling out of a pocket. Been there... Personally I do not care for, or against, the see-threw feature. Its not why I bought them. Like GW, they were a few bucks cheaper and what was sold where I bought them. I always used the solids before and were plenty happy with them. Just wondering if the Blizzard see-threw type are as durable as the solids with a clear lense on them. (???) GWSmith
Re: Bulter Creeks- Blizzard or Solid caps? I cant see any wear at all on my Blizzard caps after one season and they close and open just as if they were new. They do have that small tab towards the bottom on each side you just have to flip your finger back towards you to get it to open the cap. No big deal....and as for me and the abuse I put my other caps through these are better. I have bent one of the Butler caps off inadvertantly after it had opened on it's own. These caps should last longer without the possibility of that particular thing happening.
VTbowman
Re: Bulter Creeks- Blizzard or Solid caps? Hmmm. Yea I can see the benifit of not having the little red tab.. I had a few open on me too by accident. No damge but they did trigger once or twice without me knowing... Thanks!
AJ
Re: Bulter Creeks- Blizzard or Solid caps? I have no use for a see through scope cap. They are not made from optical quality glass or plastic so they will not give a true view. The optical picture will be distorted, moved, blurry, or whatever. The see through lenses are also more brittle and can crack easier than the opaque flip up caps.

snapper
Re: Bulter Creeks- Blizzard or Solid caps? I've had both...IMO the solid ones are better. The see through style always seemed to be popping open when the gun was on my shoulder. Get to the stand or when I needed the gun...the scope was full of twigs and or water. Even had one pop open while hiking going to my stand before light...when I got there...it was broke off. The solid ones are more durable...but with all that said...I've ditched all my scope covers (caps) and replaced them with the scope coat! The neoprene is nicer to work with...covers the entire scope (not just the lenses) and slip off in a jiffy!
