couple questions

Recommended Posts

This morning went out to go for a walk and instead decided to sit in one of my stands and try and take some pics. Didnt take a gun with me. Anyways, after being in the stand for just a few minutes as I pan across I see a coyote in one of our plots about 200 yards back. It headed on down the hill and out of my view. About 2 minutes later a smaller coyote comes out and follows the edge of the brush pile and goes on around. Looked like it was trailing or tracking something.

I am guessing the two were working the pile for deer, fawns. Yesterday afternoon had a doe about 3:45 when I went back to check my cam standing at the edge of the pile about where the second yote came out of, she stayed there for a few minutes before walking off, kinda figured she had a fawn hidden nearby.

Is there a good chance they will be back again tomorrow at the same time. Planning to try to go back again and sit tomorrow morning but with the rifle, should I try using a fawn distress call?

Re: couple questions

That probably should work. But you should sit for a little bit and see if you get a glimpse of those yotes to begin with. Why call if you can get away without calling? If you have deer constantly in the area, especially does with fawns, my bet is that those coyotes are not going too far from where the food is at. Even if they work that area everyday, they probably will end up with something, even if it is a bullet. wink.gif Go get 'em! grin.gif

I agree. I would sit there for a little while before i start using a distress call.

fawn distress call--that is what you need right now.

Got a primos kiyi call Todd, I have used it set as a fawn distress call, and it sounds pretty good. Will be making another attempt at popping a few yotes this weekend. Will probably sit a good while before trying to call though.

Re: couple questions

Sunday morning sat for about 2 hours total. Tried a little calling and had no luck. Pretty sure they are still pretty close around, despite watching calling all coyotes a half a dozen times and practicing with the calls, I just am no good at calling coyotes.
