VermontHunter
Re: More On World Hunt Association! [ QUOTE ] VThunter, I really don't want to give the anti's any more ammo so therefore I don't want to know if there is a "GAG" order within the company of Realtree. Keep it quiet and no one will make an issue of it. Unless you would like the media to jump all over it. As I said, beating ourselves up again! If you see that no Realtree prostaffer gets involved in this WHA then just assume that something was said. Why must you hear it. Just like the evening news I guess. Curiousity killed the cat, let's not have it kill we hunters as well or bring Realtree under the spotlight for curiousities sake. [/ QUOTE ] I'm really not sure what to say to that ..... All I can say is that if I asked the question,,, I'm almost definately sure someone else was thinking it also.... I guess I was just dumb enough to ask it... And I don't think Mr. Jordan is scared of any spot light, He has a business that anyone would be proud to be associated with, and his values are that of TRUE hunting and Family.... My question was that of the polocies of his Pro Staff and employee's... OK maybe none of my business....I can accept that,, but can everyone else ??? GWSmith
Re: More On World Hunt Association! Luke, I think everyone has the right to view their reactions, and the reactions of others, in anyway they see fit. We are a very wide base of people from many walks of life. Some may see any attention given to this subject as detrimental to the ultimate desire of continuance in our tradition. In reality what we say here may not have a big impact. I do honestly believe that any impact will be felt the biggest by how much we shovel acrossed the bar code scanner at the store. This may not be the Evening News cast seen acrossed the country...but it in a small way it does give us the idea of how people view this subject. Can the Anti's use this remotely public discussion against us? Probably no more than we could use their escapades at the local Kentucky Fried Chicken. Let's face it...This may be where alot of us spend time...in reality nobody is stuffing this discussion in a plastic bag and depositing it on the General Public's front lawn or in their mailbox. We may be preaching to the choir here...but where all in the same church. This effort by WHA's founder plans to put His version of hunting in the General Public's Livingroom during Primetime while the Non-Hunting Public are in their Lazyboy recliners and calling it what We are doing as a group...I have a MAJOR PROBLEM with that!!! buckee
Re: More On World Hunt Association! If it wasn't for upset hunters sending emails, WHA would not only have their original sponsor, but they would have many more. These companies need to hear the voice of all of us. If we keep quiet, it is not going to go away for sure. At least if they go ahead with it now, we won't have to do the backstep...they will. Our silence tells any future sponsors that all is clear, and there is profits to be made. Our voice tells any future sponsors...no way. These companies didn't back out of their sponsorship, because they had a dream, they backed out because of the overwelming emails from you and me. Keep it up, until it's squashed. We have no plans to be involved or participate in the World Hunting Association. Thanks for the question, Team Realtree [/ QUOTE ] Good deal. And this is from a Mathews Inc employee... [ QUOTE ] Mathews Inc is not sponsoring the World Hunting Association. Nor are we sponsoring anyone to be a part of this Association. Mike Z [/ QUOTE ] And another good discussion. http://forums.mathewsinc.com/viewtopic.php?t=36097 You can't get mad at a company that is guily by association. I was one of the folks that said I wouldn't support the companies than sponsor the WHA. But if a guy purchases a product or isn't sponsored by them for hunting, then I wouldn't be concerned about it. Especially if that company says they will NOT be involved in it, like Realtree and Mathews have both said. How many Natural Gear camo users are going to get angry and jump ship? Brett Hankins is on their Pro Staff, but I haven't heard of them sponsoring the WHA. What if one of the other "members" of this "game" wears Realtree or Mossy Oak? Guest HaDeRonDa
Re: More On World Hunt Association! Buckee as well as GWSmtih are right. It has been we hunters that have put and should continue to put strain on the companies who support WHA. VThunter, you are right and your question was not a dumb question. It was a great one but not all great questions need to be asked. You noticed that the response that Fishermanwhohunts got was short and sweet. That is the way it should be, if you ask me. A great business-like response. Money is the evil of all mankind. Has anyone heard of a state taking any sort of action against WHA and it's schanagan's? I have heard of no legislation preventing such garbage. Society dictates what is acceptable and it does so through laws. Without any, this WHA will live wether we like it or not. Companies that make gear for hunting do not need to support it for it to live. We need to to find a avenue to squash it as Buckee says. LifeNRA. JMO but I think a question like that would drive home our answers about WHA with solid numbers. I'm against WHA but attacking individial people is not the way to go about this. For my family I'd do just about anything. Bread on the table folks or should we just gather sugar maple leaves and be happy with a sugar maple salad with no dressing? Chrud
Re: More On World Hunt Association! I just saw on the Mathews Forums that Natural Gear has dropped Brett Hankins from their Pro-Staff. I hope Mathews does the same. We all have the right to make decisions, and sometimes they are very bad decisions. Often those mistakes come with consequences. Even though Mathews has said they won't support the WHA or anyone involved, they will get slammed because Hankins uses their bows for target shooting. For anyone interested, the WHA has a new video on their site with names of some of their members.

buckee
Re: More On World Hunt Association! The unfortunate part about this is, the self-proclaimed "Commissioner" of this organization, David S. Farbman has a great deal of money, and can probably absorb some of the initial start up costs himself. However, as long as hunters remain focused on telling any potential sponsors that they will no longer support their companies, if they sponsor unethical ventures such as the "World Blunting Association," then Farbman's Farce is doomed to become a failure. ODH
Re: More On World Hunt Association! From:David Farbman, Commissioner and CEO Date:June 12, 2006 Re:World Hunting Association Dear fellow hunters: I want to personally welcome you to the WHA, a new professional competitive world tour designed by hunters, for hunters. I have been an avid hunter for more than 20 years and have hunted with nearly every weapon. Hunting is my passion, and I am now dedicating my life to the sport. In addition, our team and supporters are largely comprised of experienced and passionate hunters. The World Hunting Association intends to expand the next generation of hunters and hunting fans by showcasing the true essence of hunting and by offering exciting and educational content to provide more people facts about hunting. We are also creating a foundation which will donate to charitable and non-profit organizations that help enhance hunting, such as venison donation charities, and that offer hunting trips to those who are critically ill or less privileged. Many people are very interested in finding out more details on the WHA and how we will achieve our goals. Over the coming months, we will unveil: •Details about the competitions and tournament format. •The darting process and procedures, including the recovery, release and treatment process. •Exciting features on the full-scale, interactive worldhunt.com website. •The positive impact the WHA will have on conservation, including aging of animals, vaccinations against widespread disease found in deer herds, and other valuable scientific and wildlife impacts. •Valuable tips relating to deer management and crop management. •The culling process that we use to thin the herd in a responsible and educated manner (taking place outside of the tournament format). •The hunting-related charitable organizations that will be the recipients of WHA donations. Let’s face it: our sport could use a “shot in the arm.” The number of licensed hunters has been declining for years and many people view hunters and hunting in an inaccurate and unflattering way. It’s time to improve that image and show the world the complexity, skill, and strategy that is the core of hunting. While additional details of the WHA will be disclosed in the coming months, I want you to understand some of the core elements of the competitions: •Although, for purposes of broadening viewership, the competition will be based on “non-fatal” hunting, we completely support harvest hunting. •The WHA competition will focus on many of the same skills required in harvest hunting, including scents, positioning, scent elimination, stand strategies, gauging and playing the wind, and many other practices. •The scoring system will reward competitors for their hunting skill. While the animals will not die, the hunt itself will be challenging and intense. •To preserve ecology, the animals will be given certain vaccinations and will have blood work completed immediately by a licensed veterinarian; animals will be marked and not shot twice in a competition. Now is the time for all hunters to stand together, shoulder to shoulder. While new ideas and change can sometimes be uncomfortable, this is a great opportunity for hunters to elevate the sport, clear up misconceptions, and expand the next generation of hunters. Let us unite as hunters and work together to grow the sport. I welcome your feedback and suggestions as we are building the tour. Please send feedback to [email protected]. When we launch the first event in the fall, it will be our tour, designed especially for hunters like us. We should all be proud. Sincerely, David Farbman Commissioner and CEO, WHA ------------------------------------------------------------ they're only in this for the money! This guy has received plenty of feed-back already, and is ignoring us all. We'll unite alright, but not in your favour Mr. Farbman. "Designed especially for us" - What absolute garbage. How dare he still pretend to speak for "US" after all the negative feed-back he has received. This guy is an absolute arrogant rich idiot, with only his own self interest in mind.. This nut-case is going to lose his shirt, if he doesn't stop this nonsense now and cut his losses. and he's going to bring a few people down with him.
